Thanks for the feedback! I'm glad that the emotional content comes through anyway - I'm aware a lot of people have never seen Hancock so I was trying to make it a decent experience for people who'd only seen BSG too. I'm so pleased you liked that transition. Sadly no, it's not from the inside of one vehicle to another. I wish it was, but all the shots inside the vehicle were very...well, at that point in the film it's being filmed almost as a screwball comedy so the visuals didn't fit, plus they all included Random Other Characters I didn't want dragged into the vid.
As to why I chose Hancock? It was a bit of an arbitrary decision really. I have to confess it wasn't something I'd always thought was cool. The final bonus challenge I was responding to was to make a crossover where the final cylon was a character from a show other than BSG. So I had to set about finding a character I a) thought could work in some way and b) had the source for.
Hancock fit on both counts because he's got weird abilities, etc., but absolutely no idea what he is/where they came from/why he's different, and deals with not knowing by drinking (like Tigh and Tyrol) and just generally being self-destructive and kind of an ass (like all of the four at various times). So I thought I could draw good visual and thematic parallels between the two shows. Also Hancock is filmed in quite a handheld and grainy way so I thought that visually the two shows wouldn't jar.
Finally, I love Hancock. Like, I love it to the degree I want to make a music vid just of it and I think it might have been one of the best films I saw last year (and yes, I saw The Dark Knight), but it got so trashed by critics that a bajillion people I know didn't go to see it just because they heard so many bad things. Which makes me sad. Because it's such a beautiful, beautiful movie if you're willing to go with it and understand that the trailer that tried to make it look like Superhero: Jackass is totally inaccurate. Um...which is a long way of saying, I've been looking for an excuse to pimp it somehow and this seemed as good a chance as any. ;)
