NaViMaMo Vidlet: For Amy [Doctor Who]

For [livejournal.com profile] pellucid! Vincent Van Gogh slipped in there more than I intended. ;)

I would also like to take this moment to point out a far more comprehensive and utterly wonderful take on the season five arc (which, really and beautifully is, of course, Amy's arc), in the form of my birthday present from [livejournal.com profile] sabaceanbabe - The Crowded Hour.

Title: For Amy
Video: Doctor Who
Audio: Bookends Theme // Simon & Garfunkel
Summary: Your life is memorable, Amy.

Direct download available here. 10 megs approx. RightClickSaveAs.

I will index and crosspost all vidlets at the end of November or when I've done all the prompts if I decide to keep going to finish them.

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

More later when the euphoria is less. ;)

Heee! :) Euphoria suffices to make me pleased. :)

Oh Amy. That was lovely. I love her awed face. And she and Rory are very sweet together, but I'm still shipping her with Vincent. It's such a simple, intimate story about people and love, but also so epic and about stars burning for thousands of years (both Amy/Vincent and the whole arc :D).

[identity profile] beccatoria.livejournal.com 2010-11-18 10:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Yay! :D I still think it's funny that even though I'm far more a fan of the show than you, you're the one with an Amy icon. ;)

I also forgive you your Amy/Vincent ways because it was, indeed, lovely. And it's not like I was really all that enamoured of Rory before the finale either. And even then it was really the circular arc of the story I loved best.

I love her awed face toooo!

Oh YAY!!!!!!!!!! This is exactly the sort of thing I was hoping for! The sense of hope and possibility, but then loss and life and that intangible bittersweet emotion that experience brings. I particularly adore the opening sequence, with the encounter with the Raggedy Doctor that Amy couldn't quite be sure she hadn't dreamed--perfect!

OMGS RELIEF! ;)

Hooray for liking it! I was worried it would be a little...quieter than you'd hoped but of course it's such a quiet song, but as you say, thoroughly tinged with bittersweet experience. I'm also glad the innocence of the initial dreamlike meeting comes through. I sort of wanted to...well bookend I guess, but going from naive and therefore disappointed and left behind to life-experienced and pulling the Doctor back and saving him instead of getting left by him.

Aww! That song! I love the instrumental part. So soft and the cuts seems softer too.

And Amy! She and the Doctor are such children in the beginnning. But she grew up. I don't know if Doctors ever really grow up.

I still love Amy. It's her eyes. Everything about her: fear, anger, wonder, joy it all shines out of her eyes. Thanks for vidding her so much. It's like I get to watch what would be my favorite part (her or River) of the show anyway all in a row. :-)

Yeah, I used some fades here but also a lot of hard cuts - it's interesting how the music affects that.

I love that Amy managed to grow up without having to give up anything that made her her. Which tends to make me think that the Doctor has always been grown up; at least this Doctor, even if he doesn't always show it.

You're so right about Amy's eyes. I've seen people say they can't connect with the actress but I don't understand how that can be true with those eyes. <3

You should know that I can't stop watching this vidlet. Simon and Garfunkel and Amy's eyes, well who could resist that?

:-)

Wow, Vincent's episode is making me teary-eyed again here, with how you used it. Lovely!

[identity profile] beccatoria.livejournal.com 2010-11-18 10:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Awww, thanks. :) Glad you enjoyed it!

Beautiful. *watches again*

I love this. You've told Amy's story in less than 90 seconds and you've done it beautifully. And you know, there's no such thing as too much Vincent.

Well. Damn. I think that was the very last nudge, I'll just have to buckle and start watching now. Hope you're proud of yourself, you! *finger of BLAME*
