Superheroes! - VidUKon 2015 Vid Show Suggestions!
Hey guys!
I'm in charge of a Superheroes vidshow for VidUKon this year! My aim is to make it awesome. So obviously I'm going to ask all you awesome guys to help me create a shortlist of vids to include.
My goal is to root it in self-identified Superhero stuff but also to reach out to other things that don't necessarily self-identify as capes and costumes heroics, but clearly draw on those archetypes.
So I'm soliciting any and all suggestions!
Though I'd be super, super grateful for suggestions that aren't for either Marvel or DC because that's a lot easier to find.
To help this process, I brainstormed some fandoms that fit under either "Actually Superheroes!" or "Oh Come On, They're Superheroes!" I want to try and make sure that the latter category isn't just "action heroes", so feel free to question, challenge or suggest stuff in the comments even if you don't have a specific vid to rec (though obvs, omgs, I hope you do!)
Actually Superheroes!
DC (duh)
Marvel (duh)
Kick-Ass
Watchmen
Hancock
Krrish
Judge Dredd
This list is as complete as I can make it, so if I've missed something PLEASE let me know!
Oh Come On, They're Superheroes!
Commander Shepard
Olivia Dunham
The Avatar (as in The Last Airbender and Korra)
Buffy Summers
Lara Croft
Ghostbusters
Blade
Jedi characters in Star Wars
Xena
Knight Rider
This list is both arbitrary and incomplete and mostly designed to act as a starting point. I'd also note that the focus of vids in this list will probably matter more. Wonder Woman is always going to be identified as a superhero. A vid about Buffy could focus on a lot of things other than her superheroic attributes.

If you have trouble finding a Buffy vid and want one, I have a vid in the works that might fit. If you're interested we can PM about it maybe?
Ugh, I wish I knew of more Xena vids, but searching always fails me. All the Xena vids I know of are shipper vids, haha.

I definitely want to have a Buffy vid in there as I feel she's the quintessential "not really a Superhero but totally a Superhero" character, you know? So the idea of a Slayer ensemble (since that's the heroic identity here) is actually really apt, so whether the premiere works out or not, thanks for the rec!
Anyway, if it sounds doable, please let me know - either by DM or email. It's beccatoria at hotmail dot com.

For a superhero themed show, one of these Hiro+Ando vids might work: My Hero by bradcpu and Sawatte Kawatte (Touch! Change!) by laurashapiro

Thank you for the recs!

Boppy did a great Smallville vid about Green Arrow, which also includes cameos from the Smallville proto-JLA - Aquaman, Black Canary, Flash, Hawkman, and so on.
Jagwriter has a great Huntress vid from the short-lived Birds of Prey series called "Somewhere I Belong".
It's probably a bit long, but you did mention Blade - Balistik made a good Blade vid to Rob Zombie: Exterminating Son" Alternatively, he did a really good vid called Anarchy that makes some interesting comparisons between the Crow, V for Vendetta and the Joker...
Would Mr Anderson's Iron Man vid be a good one to show? I know it's more about Tony stark than it is Iron Man, but it is very cool.
I would keep hunting around, but the Walking Dead episode just finished downloading and... well, zombies.

I actually have something Canary-focused in mind already for the DC TV universe (though I do need to check out that Huntress vid in case I need to rethink!) But I was thinking of using Boppy's Nikita vid for one of the "not-quite-a-superhero-but-come-on," vids...
I'm also pretty sure I'm doing okay on Marvel: the hard thing there will be thinning the herd.
The Blade vid, though - excellent. I'll go check that out.

Also, Pacific Rim? (That Level Up vid might be good for that.)
I'll keep thinking.
