BSG Clues: WTF?

So. I thought today's clues were kinda lame because it was just a clip from 4.0 and the Last Supper picture again. AND THEN I NOTICED (cus I'm slow):

WHERE THE FRAK IS LAURA? WHAT DOES IT MEAN? WHAT DOES IT MEAN?!

...I really want it to mean that she's the fifth because RDM said the fifth wasn't in the promo photo. But somehow I doubt that's the case.

STILL THOUGH, INTRIGUING.

I DEMAND ALL YOUR THOUGHTS, IMMEDIATELY, FOR I AM ADDICTED TO THIS SHOW.

I say it's meaningless. I think the whole site is yanking our chains. But don't let me stop you from speccing. :)

(It does trouble me that Lee is acting as president in the other clip. Where is Laura in that one? Why isn't she president again?!)

Yeah I'm...kind of with you on that one. I mean, I don't think it's a complete waste of time, I think they'll genuinely give us stuff with some relevance to S4.5 including a few contextless clips, but I think my speculation is probably pretty useless.

Basically because there are at least five different things I can think that means that are all different and are all suitably 'vague' and 'symbolic' and of course that's the point.

So like, she's been photoshopped out of the major S4 promo pic, and these are clues as to the final cylon and stuff! OMG SHE'S BEEN ELIMINATED AS A SUSPECT!

Or maybe the point is, this is the photo where RDM said the fifth wasn't pictured, and now she's been removed, OMG SHE'S BACK IN CONTENTION AS A SUSPECT!

Or maybe, it's foreshadowing her prophesied death.

Or maybe, it's showing that she's stepped off her destined path.

Or maybe, it's showing a literal separation between her and the rest of the cast members pictured.

To be honest, my money would be on the last one simply because Lee's acting as President - as is Zarek in some clips, seemingly, with Laura nowhere to be seen except some shots in the trailers where she appears to be on a basestar. So I'm guessing she's a hostage, or stands down after the Earth fiasco and is hiding out there or something. And that's why she's not pictured.

But that's a wild guess, and basically separating her from everyone else - which is what that photoshop job does - is something that's going to be applicable to her show-long arc WHATEVER they do. Because that's what Laura does. Take on the burden herself, alone, elsewhere, in secret.

Alas, I'm also a spoilerwhore and I'm...desperate these days. *bites nails*

it totally made my night to get the Sunday Bloody Sunday draft! but I probably don't have time to send you feedback until, um, Sunday. but I love it! and I think it's just one or two spots where I have suggestions.

I wish I had more spoilers, but I don't. I will, however, tell you if I get any further confirmation of sex slave hostage in the lesbian commune basestar Laura.

YAY YOU LIKE THE NEW DRAFT! Can't wait for the feedback, but don't worry about being lightning fast; I can wait until Sunday (Mambo Sunday?) I'm pretty happy with most of it too, though there are a few moments where I wasn't sure it was working so it'll be interesting to see if they're the same moments you highlight...

Hahahahahaha. Man, my favourite part about that is that when I went to look at the photo briefly to do a "what's missing" (I am mostly avoiding all S4.5 content except candids of actors), my first thought was "Hey, they photoshopped out Anders' tattoo.

The clues thing is bizarre, imho. Last weeks clues left me scratching my head and the clip of Lee, Adama, and Zarek played for a laugh must have been shot just for this. I don't know what to make of Laura being photoshopped out. Was Laura replaced by an evil Cylon clone on the baseship?

Really? You think that clip was shot just for this? That would surprise me; I think it's more likely Lee was bluffing and actually said something like, "We believe we know but that information's classified," or something, when really they have no idea. I don't know. But it was surprise me if that were the case. Any reason you thin this?

I doubt Laura was replaced by a cylon replica just because we've never seen them copying actual humans before and I don't think that's something that would really "fit" since there seems to be some mystic, "done for us, we don't really understand it," aspect to their creation and resurrection technology, otherwise the hub wouldn't be so irreplacable (but I could be reading too much into...everything, and my fanon belief that the final four helped build the humanoid models before disappearing and programming them not to think about them).

I put my main theories in a comment above, but basically I think it's most likely a reference to the fact that Laura seems to be on the baseship for a lot of 4.5 from the trailers, while Lee and Zarek both seem to be in political power. So I think that somehow Laura ends up spending a lot of the first chunk of episodes away from whatever's going on on Galactica, having her own Basestar adventures or whatever?

Ooh intriguing. I like that they're not really telling us anything but that they're giving us stuff to discuss anyway. Not quite spoilery but like faux spoilers. It's a good compromise and we'll have lots to chat about till January at least.

Yeah, as I said above, I feel a little bit like they're yanking my chain just because what they're giving is so massively vague I don't actually think it's possible to draw concrete conclusions and we'll all just end up using the clues to support our own theories. But I'm also easy and very, very grateful for any scraps of...anything they'll give me. And it's great fodder for fantheories, which I love to read. So on balance, I'm in favour of the idea!
