Doctor Who Vid: 1969

After Fringe and Doctor Who impressing me loads last week, this week they were both a bit meh, so instead of talking about them, I made this cus I was bored. It is short, but as it is over two minutes, I declare it a full-blown vid.

Title: 1969
Video: Doctor Who
Audio: Rinzler // Daft Punk [Tron: Legacy Soundtrack]
Summary: A lot more happens in '69 than anyone remembers. [Episodic for The Impossible Astronaut/Day of the Moon]

Awesome! I like the use of the slap with the music at 0:26, the sequence at the beginning, and the sense of dread that built as the video progressed.

Oooh, this is so creepy and good... Loved the flickering cuts with the Silence. This season of Doctor Who is so exciting and disturbing and temporally complex! <3

Also, "this vid is actually 8 minutes long." LOVE.

Eeee, fabulous editing! Loved this.

This is so creepy and atmospheric; I love how you first introduce the Silence with the beginning of the new sounds in the music, and the build of the creepy from there throughout the whole thing with the increasingly frantic music. I also love how you've so clearly conveyed the memory and forgetting aspects of these eps, like how you start with the Doctor's death and show flashbacks to earlier and the flashbacks to the burning from the diner, and of course all the ways you've shown through either repetition or gestures or expressions that they forget their encounters with the Silence. 8 minutes long indeed! And that last flash of lightning on the Doctor's face after snogging. Awesome. <3

Oh, this is great! The music and the editing are fabulous, and it plays pretty effectively, I think, as a really great trailer for the eps.

This does a fantastic job at creating and maintaining the tension. And the introduction of the silents? PERFECT.

I've watched a couple of times now and the beginning still makes me jump. Insanely good pacing, and I have no idea how it manages to keep me hanging on in suspense when I've seen these episodes like three times now. Obviously it's just a really awesome vid.

Lots of little flourishes I love too, like the Doctor kicking off the beat at :30, the TARDIS reappearing, and ohhhh the little girl almost smiling at the end.

this vid is actually 8 minutes long

This is really great - I love your use of movement and small moments to piece together the larger story. Creepy and awesome!

Oooh, I like this so much! I love how the layering of shots mirrors the layering of time/memories that occurs in the episodes. It's really well done and it does emphasize that so much more happens in the episodes than we see or they remember. The instrumental works really well - I can't imagine doing something like this with lyrics!

I really like your music choice, and the slow menace that your editing builds with it. Well done! :)

this is so aesthetically stunning! I love how you worked with the soundtrack to turn the episodes into a sort of visual poem. is it really your first instrumental vid?? it reads rather like a trailer -- in the good sense, as in, I think muggle fans would find it widely accessible and very cool.

As usual, I'm in awe of your editing skills. This really captures the sense of dread and doom which ran through these two episodes. Including that WTFBBQ ending.

ooh, that was beautiful <3

I love this. So. Frickin'. Much. The way the intensity of the music rises with the intensity of the episode. I love how you matched the change of the music with the appearance of the Silence.

Fabulous editing, fabulous vid.

This is totally fabulous. I saw it this morning in the instrumentals vidshow at Vividcon, and it knocked my socks off. Gorgeous and haunting and eerie and beautiful.

I'm not a Doctor Who fan at all, but I was mesmerized by this vid when I saw it at VVC last week. It's creepy and atmospheric, and the build of tension is phenomenal, and generally I thought it was stunning. Amazingly effective blending of visuals and music.
