I HAVE STARTED VIDDING AGAIN.
...curse you Razor. At least this one is comparatively short. I don't think I could spend much more time in the company of Cain, Gina and Kendra without becoming woefully depressed.
Though I was pretty damn woeful this morning. But I think that had more to do with going to back to work after a crummy night's sleep than anything else.
Also: I probably shouldn't admit this, but the whole Jesus story; I can appreciate it from a distance. I understand that it's an awesome thing and all. But I don't get it in my gut. I don't really understand the appeal.
But show me Superman stories and suddenly I understand the appeal of a Messiah and self-sacrifice and faith and being a goody-two-shoes despite harrowing circumstances a whole lot better.
I could admit that there's probably something wrong with me, but I prefer to blame my parents who raised me Unitarian and then accidentally convinced me as a toddler than when people died their disembodied heads went to a big room in the sky.

Date: 2007-12-28 02:00 pm (UTC)Ive been rabbidly digesting the DUNE novels this x-mas, so jesus does come across as being a bit dull compared to Genetically modified Omnisciencent messiahs/ all seeing emperors of millions of worlds.
Personally id rather believe in Santa.

Date: 2007-12-28 08:45 pm (UTC)Though those genetically modified omniscient messiah-figures are sort of played in a political, calculating fashion. Which while it's a story I totally appreciate sort of isn't what I meant with Superman?
Superman I just understand in the perhaps childish, but very emotional, "ZOMG, this entity of PURE GOOD just came to save ME," awe. Which I imagine is what devout Christians experience with regards to Jesus. Which is pretty cool really; I just think it might say something about me that it takes a comic book character not a 2000 year old massively important piece of history/story to get that response.
Personally id rather believe in Santa.
I dunno, the idea of Superman flying around the world giving presents to small children is kind of awesome... ;)
