I am home sick today and my head is full of random crap.

First, the Noir!Fringe episode: I loved almost all of it. I thought that the singing felt a bit tacked on, but the episode mostly pulled it off as either being part of world, like Broyles playing piano, or the singing corpses and Walter's echoing of that song in the Bad Ending. Or came across as just Walter being nuts, like Walter's voice out of Rachel's mouth in the beginning. But there were a few parts, most notably Olivia's solo to Peter about his heart batteries that just...didn't really make much sense to me and felt kind of awkward. THAT SAID. OLIVIA DUNHAM, PI. SHE SWAGGERED, PEOPLE. THERE WAS A SWAGGER. AND THE DRINKING OF HARD LIQUOR.

* * *

Okay, on to the more important topic of this post:

I know they look nothing alike, but I have become convinced that the most awesome thing in the UNIVERSE would be if she:

Grew up to be her:

I mean, okay, I then have to reconcile the fact that I kind of like the idea that River is married to the Doctor (even though I don't actually think that's gonna be how it shakes out), but one of my favourite parts of the Seventh Doctor/Ace relationship was how familial and protective and loyal and unromantic it was.

BUT SHUT UP, ACE WOULD TOTALLY GROW UP TO BE A KICK ASS ARCHEOLOGIST WHO KEEPS GETTING PUT IN PRISON FOR BLOWING THINGS UP WITH NITRO-9 KILLING THE BEST MAN SHE'S EVER KNOWN.

I AM TAKING THE SWAGGER AS A VICTORY, THEY CAN'T STOP ME. :)

Yeah, I was kind of meh about the heart battery song too and some of the awkwardness, but it wasn't enough to push me out of loving most of it, weird anachronistic world and all. The five or so Observers Olivia took out right before that scene with Peter might have something to do with it. Priorities, I have them. ;)

And I don't know either of those women, but I might love River Song based entirely on that description.

OMGS, I KNOW, THE SWAGGER! We seem to be pretty much on the same page about the episode; I'd take Olivia beating the crap out of five Observers in her pajamas if the entry fee was weird battery heart music too. :)

Re: Doctor Who Women -

As to those women, the first one, Ace, was the companion of the 7th Doctor, back in the 80s, right before it was cancelled for the first time. She was kind of awesome, she had a rucksack with an infinite supply of random crap in it like baseball bats she used to attack daleks with and giant rope ladders. She was also obsessed with blowing stuff up with an explosive of her own invention - Nitro9. She got expelled after blowing up the chemistry block in her school then claiming it was a creative act.

The second one, River Song, just showed up last season (which I couldn't stand to watch most of), in a pair of episodes written by the guy who is now in charge. We really don't know much about her except that she's a doctor (later professor) of archeology, and seems to run around getting into trouble, getting herself out of trouble, getting the doctor into trouble and refusing to explain the nature of their relationship due to "spoilers" because they keep meeting all out of order due to time travel. (So like, the first time we, and the doctor, meet her, is the last time - probably? possibly? - she ever meets him). She might very well be the person who eventually kills him, she knows all his faces, and insists on calling the doctor, "Sweetie". And replies to questions such as, "Can I trust you?" with, "If you like, but where would the fun be in that?" before getting carted off to prison again.

Basically she is pure grade awesome and I wholeheartedly endorse you loving her, although tragically she has so far only been in 4 episode, and I think we may have to wait until the end of the season to get her in any more.
