Oh dear, epic lulz!

I really love that even though this is a wacky and light-hearted vid, it still retains that aspect of story-telling and myth that defines River so much! There's also some unexpectedly apt lyric-visual matches. Loads of fun!

Eeeeeeeeeee!!! You have no idea how thrilled I am that you are vidding Who! :D :D

Also, OMG this is ADORABLE. And that SONG! Genius! Not knowing it at all made this a totally surprising view for me. The vidding is totally adorable and made me LOL (0.43!) and then deepened emotionally for me around 2.19, which was a pleasant surprise.

Very celebratory of an awesome female character! Very inventive, I love it! :D

SO MUCH LOVE. I love the fun crack, and yet that it also has a meaningful emotional core. This captures both the fun, flirty side of River as she flits around being awesome and also her sheer epicness and universe-saving. Mostly I just adore the whole idea of River as a comet, a UFO, a shooting star, running around pwning the whole universe and gobsmacking everyone. So true! The editing is absolutely perfect and adorable, capturing all the best snippets and expressions and reactions to her ("looked so very weird to Janet" is *still* never not funny. HEE!). The two parts about the different planets are wonderfully lyrics-matched; I can't believe how well that works. My favorite bit though, is that the shooting star turned out to be River. <333333 Because it's adorable and because River epically remembered and helped Amy remember and I love that bit of the story so very much. Basically, this whole thing just makes me grin. :D

I'm also really happy that the storyteller aspects of River's actual storyline kind of...fit into this. I think it wouldn't have been so much fun to make or as funny if it's had been random crack instead of crack that...weirdly, sort of made sense!

Eeeeeeeeee! You have no idea how thrilled I am I can finally love Who enough to be vidding it! :D :D I'm not sure what your thoughts were on the RTD era, but I never really liked it, much though that broke my heart. I feel that this season has finally come back around to my Who, the one I remember from before the reboot but bigger and better and more beautiful. This season basically turned me into a complete glee monkey and I ended up churning out about three vids in six weeks, TWO of which have been about River *facepalm*

BUT to get to this vid, I'm so glad you like it! metatxt was actually the one who suggested the song and I agree, it's just genius. I'm really pleased that the emotional deepening in the section you mentioned came through because apparently even when I am pretending she is a cracktastic space lady, I am incapable of not finding River to be OMG DEEP in some capacity! (Wait, I that was probably just a straight up description of canonical River Song... :p)

RIVERRRRRRRRRRR! I'm so thrilled you love it as much as I doooo. Alex Kingston is the best at pulling adorable (and HILARIOUS) expressions and adding physical flourishes in a way I never really appreciated before I started vidding her. I keep wanting to say something about how the song manages to turn River into this figure of total cracked out hilarity while also keeping sections about her importance in the show, but then I think, wait, that's like, basically River in the show anyway. She is this gleeful, improbably, joyful, completely batshit force of epic awesome who is a UFO impersonates Cleopatra and travels like a rocket jailbreaks a maximum security prison with some lipstick and has a comet team makes the Doctor HEEL BOY with graffiti on the oldest cliff face in the universe, while simultaneously being the core of this epic piece of deeply serious and beautifully executed show mythology.

And like, I don't think this vid captures the half of that, but I do think it's probably why it manages to be crack one minute and quasi serious to SCHOOLHOUSE ROCK the next? Cus, um, I'm not actually sure it's crack instead of just River.

Which is just SO MUCH GLEE.

Hee! Goofy grin is awesome! And it's totally not weird you remember the words. Honestly, I don't because I didn't grow up with Schoolhouse Rock (I think it was more an American thing?) So metatxt sending me the link and going, "TOTALLY RIVER, RIGHT?!" was the first I heard of it. But I do remember totally obscure Muppet Show and Sesame Street songs, even now ("Baby, we were born to add," and "Letter B"!) which probably amounts to the same thing... ;)

I started the RTD era with cautious optimism and had my soul completely destroyed by it. :/ :/ I could not be more bitter. Oh wait! I COULD. *remembers BSG* But yes, fear not, I was also heartbroken. And ANGRY, very angry. Unfortunately so angry that I watched most of this season out of the corner of my eye, trying desperately not to get too excited. There was a huge danger I would because I absolutely adored Moffat's episodes during the RTD era but I have issues with him sometimes so I knew I could be in dangerous territory. Anyway, suffice to say that Eleven won me over despite everything by the end. So I am a reluctant fan again! I'm still totally flinching and waiting for it all to go hideously wrong but I do love Eleven with the power of many suns. :) River's also fabulous, of course!

admittedly, my feelings about this vid are not totally unbiased, although I can take very little credit for its genius (I was a silent partner in beta). but you know what's brilliant? tying this kids' song to baby!Amelia's innocent and yet deep perspective on the universe, her search for the raggedy doctor and River with him. that POV really captures how this vid is simultaneously so silly-sweet and so profound. I take particular glee in your rendering of a traumatic apocalypse as a caper in the sun section.

River Song just IS Interplanet Janet. THIS IS FACT.
