Yeah that's a good point about the animation? I think it'll definitely help although there's also some stuff to get used to just about the physical manner in which the stuff is on the page and the order in which you read it which is a bit different to a book. Also some conventions like writing out sound effects which used to strike me as super cheesy, and still do when I think about it, but I now read as either you know, sound effects, or a nod to the genre. Either way, ponies helping you read comics? I APPROVE.

Re: the emotion bikinis. Yeah. Okay. There really is no context that's going to make that make more sense... Like I got into a little, Power Girl ended up with a canonically ridiculously large bust and a freaking costume with a HOLE OVER HER TITS. Basically the comics approach to this and all the other weird idiosyncrasies of the comics genre is to attack them head on and make fun of them. So like, sleazy muscular space princes show up referring to themselves in the third person attempting to romance her and she laughs at them and crazy albino gorilla mad scientists swear VENGEANNNCCEEEEE on her and all she loves, or space debutantes show up and accidentally trash New York City, at one point she ends up in an ACTUAL comic shop with comments on the comic industry, and there are quasiregular moments where the comic pastiches all those wafer thing excuses to get chicks into ridiculous outfits. Which I think would piss me off if I didn't feel the whole comic was so firmly grounded in a sense of humour at the conventions of its own genre?

So yeah, they're wearing crazy emotion bikinis because it's ridiculous and that kind of is the point. Well, that and that they're best friends. That's also the point. Probably if they wore crazy emotion bikinis and then "happened" to have to fight crime while making accidentally sexually suggestive comments, rather than passing the Bechdel test, it would have been more popular, but I also think I would have been more likely to grade it a "fail" on the "pastiche" test. Then again I could just be being bitter. ;)

IN OTHER NEWS, I still owe you a comment on your really interesting vid meta post, but suddenly there were like 40 comments and I wanted to read them and time got away from me and most of want I want to do is give the whole post a giant TICKYBOX, but, mostly I am still wading through the comments.

However, I have an excellent reason for my tardiness cus I finally GIRLED UP and watched season one of Damages. FOR REAL. I TOTALLY WATCHED IT AND NOW I'M GOING TO GO START SEASON TWO.

Dude, it's suuuper stressful and I think Patty might be like, the devil. Like the actual devil. If the devil could exist in a world where good and evil don't. Like what would happen if the devil started crusading for justice. I am absolutely terrified of her, but damn she is compelling. Anyway, probably we should DISCUSS THIS MORE LATER.
