30 Days of Mass Effect: Days 3 & 4
May. 1st, 2013 05:29 pmCUS I'M BEHIND ALREADY BABY! But that's okay, these will take less time to answer than the others. :)
Sentinel! Okay, you don't get the joys of sniping crap (though really in the second and third games there are ways to get around that), but you get to have tech skills AND biotics at the same time.
I mean, it's mostly a narrative thing. I know you don't get the best biotic or tech skills, but I like thinking that I'm trained in both and skilled at both.
I don't find the soldier class that interesting because I feel like, whatever I pick I'm going to be a soldier, and I don't get any particular joy out of being that much better at shooting things and being RARGH FIGHTEY. So picking a straight fighter always feels, to me, like I'm opting not to have an awesome add-on. Which brings us back to Sentinel: best of both! I am a Magical Engineer and it's fabulous!
Paragon. I hate being mean to pixel people. :( I have gotten better at it as I've replayed and figured out the clues to work out whether being Renegade at this junction will mean being expedient and a bit brutal, being fatalistically practical, or just being psychotic. But all in all, I can't help it, I skew Paragon, especially on the big decisions.
I think the games, in general, do a sort of...half the time the renegade/paragon thing comes across as a straight up good/evil choice and half the time they succeed at making it a bit more...different methods rather than psychosis vs benevolence.
My favourite is probably the Tuchanka scenario because depending on who's alive and who's dead, I honestly feel that - horrendous as faking the cure is (horrendous as uplifting the Krogans and creating this problem in the first place was) - what's best for the galaxy, ethically speaking, genuinely changes. And that's a complicated place to be put, and it's what the best Paragon/Renegade choices should do.

Date: 2013-05-03 07:50 pm (UTC)Plus I just loved the nuts physics of the first game, when you could lift objects and swirl everything around singularities and stuff, plus getting out of the Mako and fighting everything on foot because I actually found that easier (plus it's funny to watch Kaidan maxed-out-lifting Geth Colossi...)
OH MASS EFFECT FIGHTING. I'M SO BAD AT YOU.
