All of a sudden 3 keys on my keyboard stopped workin. Backspace, and te 2 letters after "f" in te alpabet (lookin at te last two words will explain it!)

Ive rebooted (and just discovered my apostrope keys not workin eiter) and tat doesnt solve anytin. Te backspace key stopped workin briefly yesterday but ten started workin suddenly.

Im worried - any ideas? its a laptop and would be bloody tricky to be fixed at a store because of te make (RM; not a commercial brand.)

Any and all assistance/dianosis welcome!!

Thanks, I'll try that. I've gotten my boy to pick me up a USB keyboard in the meantime. But I think I'm leaning towards just getting a new laptop; mine's getting old and I've found one that's *almost* affordable if I get it from the USA (power supply not being an issue).

Meantime, it's a relief to be in work with a functioning keyboard! Oy!

HAHAHA! Yeah, but it's so true, isn't it? Mine's more like three and a half years, though, so I feel...slightly less daft? My first laptop lasted about four years so this has done nearly as well!

heh.
my first laptop ended up being replaced after 6 months - nothing wrong with it, just...
i came in to a bit of money (long story, turns out a store card company owed ME money!!), so offered to buy my mum a new laptop, as her old desktop unit had recently died of boredom.
took her out shopping, found a machine on offer in pc world (i know, i know - but it was a bargain) that cost only slightly more than i was planning on spending on her, but that was far better specced than my machine - so she inherited my old one, and i got an upgrade! 8-D
think the new one, when i finally get it this november, is going to have to last a couple of years, though - cant afford to go dropping a G every year...

Well...try getting one from the states - the exchange rate is crazy right now - you might really save some money. I know I just did. Meanwhile your suggestion of an external keyboard is keeping me sane, though I'm still getting used where all the keys are and not typing # instead of backslash.

I did what you did to my Ma! When I needed a new laptop right around the same time her computer was dying a slow death, she got mine and I got a new one. She still uses my old laptop actually; it's very loyal!

i was actually looking at the cost of mac laptops from the US a short while back - in fact [livejournal.com profile] gonzo21 gave me the idea of spending a weekend in new york to pick one up - with the way they charge extra here in the UK, i could actually get a flight and hotel accomadation, as well as the macBook, for what they charge here.
just a pity i dont have a passport, really.
or a credit card, either...
