Jedi John Crichton?

Since I took today off from my current, insane vidding project (oh god why, why self, WHY?! *twitchy eyes* THAT'S NOT A SURRENDER. YOU KNOW WHO I'M TALKING TO, YOU.) I did all those random Cinelerra tutorials but figured I might as well show the end results of this one since really, who doesn't want to see 16 seconds of Jedi John Crichton?
Warning: I was too lazy to add sound effects since it was just a video test. Also it's like...rough in places, but hey, I did it in an hour with no previous experience on a totally free program. ;)
(I would share the end results of the Sin City effect stuff but, um, that's actually already FROM a vid I'm working on, so I can't.)
This concludes your random daily allocation of VIDSPAM and VIDWHINGING.
I love you all, don't hurt me...

Date: 2010-02-05 01:18 am (UTC)Also I'm a little in awe of your, like, dedication and patience and stuff. I can't even keep my attention on effects long enough to do them, and then when I do, I certainly don't have the patience to TALK about them. I'm usually just like...eh, I did a thing and pressed a button and STOP ASKING ME WAH IT WAS PROBABLY JUST A DISSOLVE. So. Not to mention that thinking of vidding anything right now is overwhelming me in strange and mysterious ways. I wanted to do a prompt for somebody at halfamoon but I looked at lists for fandoms I know and my brain wants to run far, far away for no discernable reason. They are perfectly lovely prompts. And I have totally enjoyed wee vidlets to prompts in the past. I think I really AM a fannish grumpy old man now. So anyway, I'm telling myself not to force it and I've been busy and cranky and it'll come back. But still, WTF?
NOT THAT THAT IS A SURRENDER IN ANY WAY, SHAPE OR FORM. Rawr.
(From your other post: Leeeee blooooood ahhhhh how are you sooooo awesome????? Annnnnnd I just realized that I just sent you a totally worthless email because clearly you have figured out the color pass thing! Although I guess that's a name for it? Which, honestly, doesn't make that much sense to me, but whatevs).

Date: 2010-02-05 05:55 pm (UTC)And dude, don't be in awe of my patience, it's just a geeky secret of mine that I like listing and explaining and overexplaining. So this was actually, like, FUN for me. It's the sort of thing that I don't have the patience to do over a long-term project - like the lighsaber, I lost interest after 16 seconds, similarly my current color-pass-using project only utilises that effect for the intro and they're all longer clips. But I like to discover things even if THEN I lose the will to do anything more complicated that IT WAS SOME SORT OF DISSOLVE!
I'm sorry to hear about your vid!angst *hugs* I think you're right not to force it and to just chill and it'll return. But if it helps, I took a break and did all this the other day cus I wanted to play vidses but I really didn't have the attention to attack my next project because I like, have no idea what to put on the timeline and it just seems overwhelming.
But once I actually started it was oddly easier than I expected? So like, don't do it if it stresses you out, but also, even if you don't totally feel like it, maybe say, "I will vid for 10 minutes" (or 5) and see if you discover it's not as overwhelming as you thought it would be? Cus that's what happened to me this last week. I avoided vidding by learning all this stuff and then finally went, right, I HAVE to do this, ugh, and discovered...I'd built it up stupidly.
(But, the PRIME DIRECTIVE of vidding must always be: fun first.)
(From my other post - I has emailed you! And it wasn't a useless email cus it clarified something to me about the difference between Cinelerra and other programs. Also AHAHAA, I'm so awesome I had totally forgotten that was the name for it - I updated the vid title! *facepalm*)
I AM GLAD THAT OUR REFUSAL TO SURRENDER IN THE FACE OF OUR MUTUAL VID CRISES IS, UM, MUTUAL.

Date: 2010-02-05 05:58 pm (UTC)And honestly, with all the Star Wars references in Farscape I'm kind of disappointed that none of the tripped out episodes ever featured Jedi... ;)
