This is my final response to [livejournal.com profile] chaila43's counterchallenge.

This is probably my loosest remix, but then it was also hers, so I feel that's fitting. She remixed my crazy robot family vid into a vid about Sarah Connor and Weaver and Ellison trapped between their respective robot-infested-and-fighting families. My remix of this focuses on the slightly more serious side of this war over whose Stand Up Family Man James Ellison will be, and kind of, looks at this brave new world he's stumbled into from his perspective. Bluntly, there's no Kansas anymore, James.

AND NOW. I HAVE COMPLETED YOUR CHALLENGE, CHAILA. AND SO, TO THE DEATH.

THERE'S ONLY ONE WAY TO SETTLE THIS. IT'S JUDG(E)MENT* DAY.

ONE SHOW. ONE SONG. TWO VIDS. NO MERCY.

I wish I had something more complex to say to this but: AAAAH. ELLISON. Adore it. And very unexpected and fabulous song choice.

Hee! That's okay, I'm glad you like it so much. I don't think there needs to be anything complex said - it was a much more...emotional than messagey vid this time, I think. Plus, I'm pleased I finally managed to go with an unexpected song choice - most of the time I think I'm totally transparent with my song choices! (Which I'm honestly fine with - I like sticking with bands I know and love, it's just always fun to occasionally surprise, if only for the novelty!)

Yay! I adore this song choice like PIE, with the sweet surreality and the creepy imagery, and you really made the lyrics work so well. The whole thing really feels dreamy and *flowing*. I really love the motion in this and how you used it to connect clips. Some of your overlays are really striking, especially the Savannah skipping down the war section, and Judgment Day overlaid on John Henry. Love intercutting Savannah's duckies and happy feet with creepy Terminator imagery, which is kind of perfect for James. <3

Also, hee, your vid totally ships Sarah and Ellison, which is adorable. Barefoot girls! Hush, baby!

TO THE DEATH! JUDGMENT DAY! (YEAH, NO "E", THAT'S HOW NOT WORRIED I AM!)

Yay! I'm really pleased that the whole dreamy, flowing feel comes through: I was going for a slightly different to usual "feel" in this vid and I'm glad it's coming across. POOR BABY. It's not his fault all his surrogate children either run off with or ARE creepy robots! <3

JUDGEMENT DAY IT IS. WITH AN E. WITH AN E FOR "E* I'M GONNA KICK YOUR ASS".

*the E is silent.

Oh that wasfghyyyytftfyghtyfgtygfthjhhyyyffffght

^ Me spilling a beverage on my keyboard and quickly sopping it up! I thought the typing was interesting, though, so I left it ;)

What I meant to say was: Oh that was lovely! It had a beautifully soft flow to it that made it quite pleasant to watch.

Hee! I'm glad the beverage didn't destroy the keyboard so you could still use it to leave lovely feedback. Thank you very much - I'm glad it felt soft and flowing - I was going for a dreamier, slower feel than most of my vids.

I love your icon!

OH!!! I love this SO MUCH!!!! Perfect, perfect song choice, and so many fabulous clip choices: the intercutting of Savannah skipping down the hallway and the post-J-Day (see how I avoided the spelling issue there?!) future, and Cromartie in the church, followed by the dancing Cameron. Overall, this feels less thinky than some of your other vids, but it's an absolutely splendid example of the way a vid can get into a character's head and convey a set of impressions. There is no Kansas anymore, indeed!

Yay! ELLISON! :D

I think this is definitely less of a "thinky" vid and more of an...emotional/tonal vid? It was something I was experimenting with. I wanted to get across a dreamy, surreal, visual atmosphere (which led me to realise precisely how undramatic TSCC is, even as it's also incredibly, painstakingly, beautifully precise with its visuals). I was definitely trying for something more impressionistic and less...messagey? I'm glad to hear it was working. It was a really fun vid to do in terms of stretching my vidding skills/style - something I think I sometimes don't do so well at is maintaining tone and atmosphere throughout a vid, so it was kind of fun to work on that.

Wow. That is some hefty cutting and overlaying you've got going there! Stellar use of imagery ♥

Thank you! I'm really glad you enjoyed it and liked the visual ride. I was trying to step back from my usual vidding approach which is maybe a little more...narrative, and go for something more atmospheric and visually arresting. I'm so glad you liked it. :)

That was fascinating. Especially since I'm not particularly enamored of the song, but it worked well here. I like the overlay with Savannah skipping down the hall/bombs and resistance fighters in the future.

Thank you! I'm really glad you think it worked especially if you're not a fan of the song - song choice can really throw one out of a vid if it's not working for you (it's happened to me a bunch of times!) so hearing that I overcame that for you is really gratifying. Thanks for the feedback - the Savannah overlay section is one of my favourite parts too. :)

That was really great. I haven't seen the original video but this one is definitely an insightful look into the show from Ellison's point of view as he steps into this horrifying new world.

Thank you! I'm really glad you like it and that it captured Ellison's POV. It was definitely a strong component in the show but it was scattered across so many episodes it was nice to collect it together.
