Date: 2010-10-04 08:40 am (UTC)I really love this vid (and, really, there aren't enough Olivia-centric vids!). I remain very much in love with the beginning of this vid and it lines up so well to the scene in context and out of it. So many people want to control and manipulate her and each time Olivia breaks free, coming back up swinging.
statues surrounded by neolithic objects
The way Olivia is standing over the disappeared building just struck me so much especially with the next line about the glyphs and Olivia tracking down the pattern over a map.
But most of this line:
I will be a God of men / to create a universe
And the corresponding images of Olivia confirming her ability and the way the camera zooms out as she looks out of the Two Towers… it felt like there was something foreshadow-y about it all.
I want to say more because rewatching this makes me see and feel something new. It's just really, really fantastic. Thank you so much for sharing this vid!

Date: 2010-10-04 11:09 am (UTC)I love how clearly you see the message of the vid - Olivia fighting back at everything and everyone who wants to control her. I'm also very happy you liked the first line you quoted because I really liked it but I was worried it'd be one of those strange lyrical associations only I really got - along with the next line about the geoglyphs. <3
And I just LOVE that whole scene with the lights. Olivia's fear and power wrapped up in one. I think it was partly so powerful BECAUSE it - for once - cut through her underlying anger and control that she usually uses to mask any invulnerability, but, like her anger, and like her control, her fear, even in this mindwarpingly odd moment, is understated; near-silent. It's the epicest of epic foreshadowing and I really wish they'd get on with telling us exactly what Olivia can do with her brain.
Thanks again for such a thoughtful comment and for your help with it before I posted. I really appreciate it and am glad it holds up to rewatches!

I want to draw hearts around this quote so much! This is so very true of everything about Olivia, Cortexiphan and her abilities. She has so much mixed reactions to her abilities, she isn't like Nick Lane who has waited all his life to be activated, nor was she like all the other poor Cortexi-kids who have no control over their powers and end up hurting so many people and ultimately themselves.
Jones and his creepy look together with the line 'poor bastard' sent a shiver up my spine because that's the reaction to Olivia most of the time but Olivia throws all that back to their faces with something a little more extra.
