HELLO EVERYONE. AS OF LATE LAST NIGHT I AM HOME SAFE AND VERY TIRED AND STUFF.

I owe everyone email and comments and stuff especially since I didn't really have the interwebs for the last leg of my trip. Updates and things and regular posting and stuff will resume...at some point!

It's very grey outside and I'm very jetlagged. Jetlag coming this way is the worst (as opposed to jetlag the other way which is kinda fun). o.O

Thank you! I did have a good trip - probably couldn't really have afforded it but sometimes you just need to say fuck it. ;)

I am glad you're back safely! I hope you had a great time!

I am pitching a fit at DC about Stormwatch. A;SLKDHG ARGGHHHHHG A;SLKDHG

and a lot of other things too actually. though they are doing surprisingly well on Wonder Woman and Supergirl!

Yay! Thank you - it was really good to get back to see friends and family who are fortunately all well.

I'm really sorry to hear about your fit!pitching! Not having read very much of Stormwatch before (I read the first...fifteen or so issues when it's mostly about Battalion and dudes with really huge muscles being angsty soldiers, but I do plan on eventually getting to the rest of it), I've been quite enjoying it? I've certainly liked the stranger elements introduced although with such a large line-up I do wish there were a bit more time for character development. But as I said, I don't know what's changed from the original since none of the reused characters in the DC relaunch are characters who were in the issues I read, so mostly I just notice the shift from hardcore military to madcap secret organisation in terms of general tone? You must educate me! :)

I'm glad to hear you're enjoying Wonder Woman and Supergirl though! So am I. I plan to write a bit about Wonder Woman shortly, actually, along with some other comics and TV roundup stuff. Batwoman also has been exceeding my expectations given that the writer changed.

I'm...broadly happy with where they're going with stuff in the relaunch, but...Harley Quinn and Amanda Waller and Red Hood and the Outlaws still makes me want to...break things. And then stab certain people with said broken things. GRR.

I'm actually feeling... relatively happy with stuff in the Reboot? Which is really, really nice. Babsgirl still irritates the heck out of me, and Red Hood & the Outlaws is like watching a trainwreck, but other than that my only major gripe is really Stormwatch. I'm not reading Suicide Squad, which I suspect is good for my blood pressure.

And Supergirl is just downright EXCELLENT so far, which makes me really happy because I sort of adore Kara.

Stormwatch is - well, it's not actually a take out of Stormwatch, it's a take out of the Authority team. Only they've stuck Jenny Quantum - JENNY QUANTUM, girl who aged herself six years, swears like a sailor, is incredibly intelligent and powerful - under someone's care. A white, older guy's care. I mean, she had Midnighter and Apollo before, but they were her parents. And they've made her - I don't even know what they've done to her. And they .... gave Apollo a name? I. What.

ALSO why the fuck are all the new characters guys except for the Communicator, who by the way is replacing ... a female character who's mysteriously absent... huh. JUST. UGH.

OH GOD NEVER READ SUICIDE SQUAD JUST DON'T DO IT TO YOURSELF. I...actually kind of am still reading Suicide Squad, but only in the store so I can yell out to my husband to come over and mock specific panels with me. What they did with Harley's character in the most recent...I do not even. But yes, your thoughts seem to mimic mine. There are a couple of things I really freaking hate, but also a lot I either love or at least kinda like, which is nice?

I'm sorry that Stormwatch is sucking for you - like I said I haven't read The Authority, so I don't come with those expectations, but I don't think that makes them at all invalid. I do think that while I'm looking forward to seeing Apollo and Midnighter get to have a big romance in a mainstream comic, losing them as Jenny's parents is a blow to presented a wellrounded and fully realised universe. I'm thinking that Harry, one of the new guys, the swords one, has a really cool idea behind him in that his real skill is deception not swordsmanship, but yeah, he's another white dude, but also I do wonder how long he'll be around? Or if he's gonna turn on folks?

I'm also thinking that Adam is...kind of batshit, like I'm also not sure how long he'll be around? (Sidenote: My impression was that his skin tone was perhaps more middle eastern than white? But I really have no idea and could well be wrong on that!) I'm HOPING that she'll get adopted by Apollo and Midnighter later in the series once Adam has lost his shit!

But...that's a hope, not something they're doing now. If they brought back Secret Six written in a different style with a half replaced and half reimagined cast, broke up Scandal and her wives and had her looking up to Deadshot instead of Bane, I'm pretty sure I'd be freaking the hell out too, so I get where you're coming from conceptually if not specifically.

*hugs* It sucks when stuff you want to be awesome disappoints you. Pretty much how I felt about the JMS Wonder Woman reboot. OMFG what a train wreck.

I'm also really glad that Supergirl is good. Because I also adore Kara (I have a Superman sweater and whenever I wear it and people go, "right, Superman!" I correct them that it's for SUPERGIRL because I am a giant dork...), but I think her series prereboot was...horribly uneven? Like it had PHENOMENAL storylines and really weird awful ones and her character was very inconsistent. So some of the books, I'm like, why are you telling an origin story? You told this origin story like five years ago, we ALL remember, just do what the other books are doing and jump right in! *cough*Blue Beetle*cough*. It's not that it's bad, it's just that I wanna get to the good stuff. Supergirl, on the other hand, I'm kind of enjoying that it's a totally fresh telling of her tale because I'm hoping for more coherency this time, since it's so good.

The art is just gorgeous, and I really loved how...introspective and quiet her internal monologue was in the first issue. Less so now that she's freaking out, but, well, she's freaking out!

Thank you! Alas there's little to tell other than I Stayed With Some Friends And Family And Ate Lots Of Junk, though I did get to see Occupy Wall Street when they were encamped and then again later when I ended up in the middle of one of the big crowds that were trying to work out whether the court order that prevented them from camping in the park also prevented them from entering, right at the time the information was coming through. That was pretty neat - getting to hear/see their ways of communicating with large crowds with no microphone equipment, etc. And certainly a moment of history.

Personally, regardless of which direction I'm flying, I find my jet leg is worse going away from my home, and easier coming back. Although, personally, I have never found ANY jetlag fun.

Ah, see I'm okay with jetlag going from the UK to the US because it's earlier than my body thinks it is, which means I get tired early and wake up early, but I deal with that much better because I naturally always want to stay up past my bedtime and I'm used to pushing the limits that way, and waking up super early is a real novelty and makes me feel like I'm getting More Of The Day without having to worry about an alarm clock.

Coming back this way, though, I end up lying in bed unable to go to sleep for hours, then having to wake up when my body thinks it's four or five in the morning and so is completely shut down and grotty and doesn't want to wake up at all and ARGH I HATES IT PRECIOUS! /rant. :p
