I remember back when he was writing Generation X, and was pretty much the first writer for the series to go "you know, Jubilee probably picked up REALLY USEFUL THINKING SKILLS back when she spent a bunch of her formative years being hauled all over the world by Wolverine and hanging out with the X-Men. Maybe that shouldn't just be a joke..." and I was happy because Jubilee was the character that got me into comics through the 90s X-Men cartoon.

And it really is hard to have all this (which I doubt none of) make sense in the context of his work with female characters and some of the flak he's gotten over them (like the people complaining about his X-Men book calling itself "X-Men" when there are no dudes*). I suppose it's another case of "sexism is bad, but only what I, the one never on the receiving end, recognize as such."

(Randomly: I just realized your name is familiar because I keep seeing people respond to you on my twitter feed...mostly prozacpark and chaila, I believe. I was trying to remember why earlier when goodbyebird linked to this.)

*Though I've never seen anyone talk about that book in the context that Marjorie Liu was told an all-female superhero book would never sell, and then Wood gets his approved not long after.
