Ted Kennedy
Jan. 20th, 2010 12:08 pmThere was an election yesterday, and I would have been sad about the result whatever state it was held in. Maybe a little sadder than most that it was Massachusetts because while it's not the state I vote in, I do have ties there. But hey, democracy's a bitch like that. Sometimes people vote for the Other Guy - you know, the one who's Wrong? I mean, I really, really believe he's Wrong for a whole bunch of - to my mind - logical and moral reasons. I don't subscribe to the idea that both sides of an argument are as valid as the other, or that the truth must lie somewhere in the middle of two opinions. It's not some happy, lets-all-hold-hands, comforting idea when I say that sometimes people vote for a side I'm not on. But it is their right, and not to support that right would be to cripple the already limping democratic processes of the world even further.
So fine, that-part-of-the-general-public, I support your right to elect a dude I think is a piece of work.
But just know, that when you do it to Ted Kennedy, and when one of this guy's war cries is how he's going to kill the meager healthcare bill that has managed to survive to this point, you're going to break my damn heart as you do it.
So I'm going to take a minute to remember Ted Kennedy. Because I'm sorry and he didn't deserve it.
