I've spent most of this evening defending the rights of Gay Mandalorians.
Huh.
Also, my new OT3: Mary Shelley/Percy Bysshe Shelley/Aries
Which is what happens when you're discussing emo poets and you ask the wrong person, "Who was that guy? You know, hung out with Percy Bysshe Shelley. Ran off to Greece to fight in those wars..."
Also, when I was a kid (like eight or twelve) these were the sort of grown-ups I wanted to be just like.
Of course, I grew up, and there weren't any left. And you can't really do it on your own. At least, not without a lot more confidence than I have.

Date: 2007-05-20 12:23 am (UTC)... i suppose all male exclusive warrior cults are gay.
the jedi were totally gay. the only wah phantom menace makes any sense at all is to assume that obi wan and qui gonn are doing it.

Date: 2007-05-20 09:02 am (UTC)Re: The Phantom Menace, well, yes. I suppose you're aware of the MASSIVE explosion of Qui Gon/Obi Wan slash that completely shocked and dumbfounded the existing Star Wars Community back in 1999 in much the same way as the explosion of fanficcing slashing fangirls shocked Lord of the Rings fandom when those films came out? ;)
Aaah, gayness. I take it you've seen 300?

Date: 2007-05-22 05:05 pm (UTC)Phantom Menace, actually no, I was so utterly disheartened by the crapness of that movie that it killed my love of all things Star Wars for many years, up until KoToR came out, and briefly rekindled me. And I suppose Lego Star Wars helped a lot too.
I only read a few bits and pieces of Star Wars fanfic, including some really quite spectacularly wrong stuff.
And nope, I haven't seen the 300 yet. I don't really get to the cinema much these days. But then, I prefer the home cinema experiance. I'm looking forward to it on DVD a lot though.

Date: 2007-05-24 10:20 pm (UTC)I'M WEARING A LEGO STAR WARS T-SHIRT! /geek Ahem.
However, if you like KoToR, maybe you'd like the new KoToR comic book series they're currently doing? (I think issue 16 just came out, and the first couple of graphic novels are around). I'm actually extremely impressed with it. It's set about 8 years before the game and is about the build-up to the war, but focusing on this (ex-)Padawan named Zayne Carrick who's, well, refreshingly a complete klutz and kind of crappy/mediocre at everything, rather than the next uber-Force-user. He's on the run with this hilarious "entrepreneur" trying to escape a bunch of Jedi Masters who want to kill him. It manages to combine wonderful comedy with absolute devastation and tragedy. It's really quite impressive...

Well, to be fair, I think I'd be disappointed if Star Wars didn't manage to compete in the "most WRONG fanfic" category. Though I still think Lord of the Rings has us licked. Um. Yeah. That sounded filthy...

Date: 2007-05-25 12:35 pm (UTC)LEGO STAR WARS WAS SO COOL!
Hell, even the first one was fun, probably a slightly better game than the second, but the second wins just because its proper star wars. Lego princess leia slavegirl outfit was hilarious. My only complaing was I wish the game had been a bit longer, me and my friend finished it very very quickly.
Oh, and lightsabres just weren't as good as a blaster.
I had no idea there was a KOTOR comic. I shall look out for it. There were some good star wars comics.

Amidala And The Sand People. Now *that* was wrong.

Date: 2007-05-25 07:33 pm (UTC)Well someone's gotta pick up the ball that Luke and Leia dropped...
:p
But seriously, I imagine they just picked a surname and one of them changed it. I wonder how they decided which one... *remembers that her boyfriend is going to change his name when she gets married even though it kinda weird her out...* Eh, takes all sorts...
LEGO STAR WARS WAS SO COOL!
I KNOW!

Yeah, I agree - though I think the second one also wins because PROPER make-your-own-character-outta-lego! And vehicles!
Oh, and lightsabres just weren't as good as a blaster.
*channels the Lego Han Solo on her T-Shirt*
But nothing beats a blaster by your side!

And some dire ones... I totally recommend getting the comics - support the industry and all. I think the first two graphic novels are out, though I'm not sure (I collect the single issues). But if you want me to throw you some digital copies of the first couple of issues to get a feel for it, let me know.

O.o
I'm broken.

Date: 2007-05-28 03:48 pm (UTC)I'm not too excited about the thought of Lego Batman which is I understand going to be the next new lego game.
I'll see if I can get the comics from my library. I have a few virtual comics, but for some reason I find reading a comic off the monitor a much less satisyfing experiance than sitting down with the paper in my hand, and a cup of tea, and turning the pages.

Trust me then, you do not want details.

Date: 2007-05-29 05:43 pm (UTC)Lego Batman?! Wow, that's...hilarious! But then, this webcomic strip (http://www.shortpacked.com/d/20050610.html) has shown me the light; Batman is comedy gold. He can make anything funny. Just imagine him gardening...

I completely agree! Though I've developed a strange fondness for the individual issues - I love sitting down with a huge stack of single-issue comics. I think I like the 1940s serialised nostalgia (well, a 1980s child's Sky-Captain twisted imagined nostalgia...) they bring with them. It's a different style and pace of story telling.
Though I do have digital copies of my favourite comics in case something happens to the actual paper copies. Fortunately I don't collect too many comics or I think I'd have serious storage issues...

Date: 2007-06-01 01:43 pm (UTC)As for the PS3, it's just too expensive for a console. If I'm spending that sort of money, I'll get a cutting edge PC instead.
And yep, Lego Batman is next. There were rumours that a Lego Indiana Jones was in design too.
