I ATEN'T DEAD!
Mar. 6th, 2008 01:13 amIt's been a ridiculously long time since I posted, so I just figured I'd say:
I'm not dead, I'm not sick, I haven't fallen into a deep, dark depressive hole, I just...don't really have much to say.
I'm kind of stressed and my life is pretty much in a surreal state of limbo right now which is probably a contributory factor. But there's also the fact that the only TV I'm currently watching is Torchwood and it's better for all our sanity that I'm not talking about that, believe me. I keep failing to catch up with House or this Sarah Connor Chronicles that seem to be vaguely good, and have become vaguely obsessed with old DS9 reruns. Though that doesn't generate a lot of discussion in me...
I haven't seen any good films lately (well, that's a lie, Be Kind, Rewind was absolutely lovely, but didn't make me want to say much).
I haven't read any good books yet and the only book I'm likely to read in the near future is the Star Wars Revelation book. I'll probably get that sometime in the next week or so, then review it the week after. That might prove entertaining, though...
Also this weekend we'll finally get a D&D game in (RIP Gary Gygax!) since we moved away from the rest of our gaming group, we haven't had one since January.
But until then, I'm boringly...detached from my hobbies. And increasingly detached from the internet. And broke, and spending most of my free time playing Dynasty Warriors on my PSP.
So yeah. I've had a grand total of 0 brilliant thoughts today, but I did kill an awful lot of ancient chinese peasants.
And thus is the sum total of my life at the moment.
So, in case any of you were wondering, I'm not dead, I'm not sick, I'm not depressed, I haven't been kidnapped by aliens, I haven't been kidnapped by ewoks, I haven't been kidnapped by Hollywood movie execs, there is just absolutely nothing noteworthy happening to me right now.
Dammit, BSG, get back on my TV screen! My LJ needs you!!!
P.S. -
nightxade, I'll try to get that replacement DVD off to you by the end of the week. Sorry about the first failed attempt!

Date: 2008-03-08 07:19 pm (UTC)Thanks for the TTSCC recc and yes, I already know and love Darths & Droids very well. It's awesome, it really is. It's so written by someone who both knows and loves his source material (meaning D&D, rather than TPM ;) ).

Date: 2008-03-16 02:30 pm (UTC)Id highly recommend the oddest yet totally brillant game ive seen in a long time Patapon! you basically control an army of warriors by banging a war drum

Ive only downloaded the demo so far but ive been playing it for hours.
Id also praise Final Fantasy Tactics which is a steal at only £13 and as the name suggest a bit more tactical than the button mashing slog dynasty warriors usually is

Any way enough of my pimping, hope you last to till BSG starts up again and im glad to hear someone else watches Virgin 1 for a reason other than just sexcetera. I rather miss having a new star trek show on tv.
Just curious, im sure its debated no end on BSG forums but what do you hope/imagen/speculate this series interpratation of earth is gonna be? Its gotta have some hook. Ive just got my fingers crossed for no super scouts.

Date: 2008-03-17 07:21 pm (UTC)I've seen Patapon and it looks awesome: I love rhythm games. But I can't afford to buy it at its new release price. That combined with the fact I have quite a few games to play through before I can justify buying any more means I'll probably pick it up later this year second hand.
I didn't know there was a demo available, though. I'll definitely look out for that!
I'm not generally into Final Fantasy, but I did notice that game and almost bought it. In the end, though I got the Breath of Fire III rerelease on the recommendation of my husband and best friend who both said I'd love it, so, we'll see...
And yes, I have indeed been enjoying th Virgin 1 reruns, though...I have no idea what sexcetera is. Clearly I am not watching enough television. o.O
I don't really have ANY idea what's going to happen with earth. I know it's been said that it won't be "what we expect" but then...they did show it to us at the end of S3, which means we need a payoff of some sort. Frankly it's one piece of speculation I don't really want to touch with a barge pole, because I don't want them to find it, settle, and live happily ever after. Because I'd always wonder if the Cylon wouldn't come and, like, eat them or whatever.
And I can't think of any more...representational way of dealing with it that wouldn't come across as overly anime-ending-nonsense.
Who the Final Cylon is, what the nature of the Cylon God is, the truth about consciousness, whether Leoben is a limited Laplace's Demon...these things are all philosphical conundrums and reveals that I love. But earth? I'm honestly stumped for how they'll sort that one out.
I know I'm looking forward to it, though. Perhaps I'll have more ideas once the series starts?
