Quick Question for BSG People!
Jun. 10th, 2008 03:26 pmHey guys - my set of UK-released season 2 BSG DVDs only has the deleted scenes from the first half of the season. Are the 2.5 deleted scenes on the American S2 release? The Amazon listings have "Deleted Scenes" but no clue as to whether they're from the back half of the series, or if they're, again, just from the first half?
Do any of you have the USA S2 release and can you answer my BURNING QUESTION?
THANKS GUYS! :D

So, the answer to your question would be yes. ;)
Btw, the Season 2 box set released in France had some additional deleted scenes from 'Epiphanies'. I have access to them. I can email them to you when I get home.
ETA: OK, I just realized, you commented on that post. :p

Date: 2008-06-10 09:34 pm (UTC)Turns out I was right! Thank you for reassuring me I wasn't insane. Now I just have to find where it was I did see those scenes. GRR.
I'm so irritated with the UK DVD releases. No 2.5 deleted scenes. And the S3 release that I just finally got around to getting? No extended cut of UB. No deleted scenes at all. No commentaries. NO WEBISODES. *headdesk* Oh, but we DO get "The Story So Far." *headdesk* It's irritating. I WANT to pay for these things legally but there's no way of getting hold of them except to make my own damn DVDs. At least I can put comedy menus on them, though...

Yes, but thank you for the link - they're awesome!

Date: 2008-06-10 11:42 pm (UTC)Well, I don't know if I'd go that far. ;p
The UK BSG DVDs suck. People in the US whine about how the UK gets the DVD before we do and I like to point out it's because they just slap the episodes on to discs with no extras. Part of the reason we had to wait so long for the S3 DVDs was because they were working on the extended cut of 'Unfinished Business'.
Do you have a region free DVD player? I know people in Europe who buy the US versions of the discs. Of course, the exchange rate is awful right now. If I ever see that Amazon or Best Buy is having a good sale on the box sets I could let you know.

Date: 2008-06-10 11:52 pm (UTC)Our best friend/flatmate had a region free DVD player so it wasn't something I ever thought about needing until like...now, and now I don't have the cash. Plus usually we don't get this badly screwed on the extras front. *cross*
The exchange rate, though, is only awful for you guys. Although it's about ten cents to the pound worse than it was six months ago, it's about forty cents to the pound better than it was in my entire life until about four years ago. Dubbya really screwed your currency strength. Stuff in America is nearly always cheaper than it is here. The price in pounds and the price in dollars is usually about concurrent. And since it's now almost two dollars to the pound these days it means when we go to the states it's like everything is half price. EVERYTHING. It's like SHOPPING WONDERLAND. OH HOW I MISS IT. *sigh*
But yeah, if I'm ever financially more secure, I may consider trading in my current box sets for these awesome extras-filled US releases...

Date: 2008-06-11 08:36 am (UTC)if you buy something from one of the big names (sony, phillips, panasonic, tosh, etc)then they lock them down - get one of the no-name brands from asda/tesco or somewhere similar, its a pretty good bet that theyve kept costs down by only including the programming for region-free, which means they can produce one model and ship it all over the world, rather than having to build a different version for each territory.
occasionally you might find one that needs a code to switch regions, but those are pretty rare these days.
