Tough call! Um, there are spoilers for everything, so you'll probably see a lot that at various points through the series will make you go "huh"? But equally it's fairly...contextless in a lot of ways?

Has anyone told you you are getting really good at this vidding thing? ;D

I just finished up this latest series a couple nights ago. I have to admit, while I like River I haven't become as enamored with her as some on my Flist. ;) But it's a great song choice given her complicated and confusing relationship with The Doctor. (And which Doctor did she meet, fall in love with and marry? She recognized Ten, yet he hadn't met her yet and now we're onto Eleven.)

The splitscreens were a lot of work, so I'm glad people are liking them, but they were more time-consuming than impossibly difficult? They're basically just masks - I don't know what editing program you use? And also sorry if I'm being obnoxiously basic? (Cus, um, I only barely know this stuff!) But it's when you "cut out" a bit of a video track so you can only see part of it. That's all this is - I just blocked out the different shapes I wanted, and sometimes keyframed two different points so the mask expanded/retracted between those points. Very fiddly, but all right when you have the basics down. (And then I also used the "pan" function to make sure I could see the bits I wanted to see, and that the clip moved as the mask did).

If you use Cinelerra I have a YouTube tutorial on how to do it, but I kind of doubt you do since I have literally never met another vidder who uses it on account of it being an obscure Linux-only program... *facepalm*

Anyway, um, now I'm wildly off-topic. Thanks again for the feedback - I really appreciate it and am so glad you enjoyed it!

I've slowly become a more effects-prone vidder (though I don't think I'm really that effects-heavy as compared to some) but am always concerned that I'm using them for flash rather than for a good reason. Yay! Thank you! When I was looking for a River vid, I was really stuck because I wanted something stylish but also something that was lyrically appropriate to the character and I was really stuck. All the songs where I liked the lyrics weren't musically right and vice versa. I actually dismissed this song early on in the process of choosing because, while all I could think of for the opening bars was, "OMGS, RED SHOES WALKING!" I kind of assumed the rest of the song wouldn't work. Until, in desperation, I went back, listened to it again, and suddenly realised I had it ALL WRONG and it was perfect! ;)

HELLO SWEETIEEEEEEEEEE! River Song is pure, unadulterated JOY and so is this vid. I love this until I could not possibly love it more, and then a little bit more anyway every time I watch it. It's so stylish and fabulous, gorgeous and fun, very much like River.

It is of course beautifully edited with the masks, but I really like how you’ve sort of jumbled up the timelines, and the epicness with the flirty, the fun and the weighty, which is all so appropriate for River. Especially how you’ve weaved back and forth between the Doctors, particularly the “black and gold” section with the screwdriver, “see nothing but black,” and the cut from River’s epic download to Eleven getting shot by the Dalek (IT DIED) then flying into the sun. With extra awesome segue way instrumental RIVER PWNS THE UNIVERSE sections. <3

Also: Grew legs and they started walking! Apes talking! Most of my life isn’t real!

I love getting a beta credit when all I do is watch snippets and say “HOW ARE YOU SO AWESOME?”

It is also good to know that the solution to all difficulties deciding how to summarize vids is just to vid River, where summaries becoming blindingly obvious. Totally fucking awesome.
