I'm bored and out of vid ideas that I can actually work on right now (due to waiting for footage, collaboration or inspiration).

Thus I declare NaViMaMo! National (well, you know, for the great state of beccatoria) Vidlet (I'm aiming for about a minute, but it may be half or twice that) Making Month.

Yes, I have started five days late. This is because I only just thought of it. Here are the rules:

Below you will find a list of fandoms I can vid. Comment with a song choice. I will make you a vidlet. If you comment with more than one suggestion, I'll probably just pick one. Unless I'm really bored.

Also, feel free to comment even if we don't really know each other or what have you. PARTY TIEM.

Ahhh! I have been on a BSG re-watch and I've been dying, simply dying for a Helo vid of sorts and I've spent the last two weeks looking for a song, so if I prompt you with Helo + noble awesomeness, man of intregrity, would that spur any ideas for you? I keep thinking of some kind of traditional Greek music or some hip hop stuff that has some Greek influence.

Yeah, no worries with trying to do one for Helo. Little stuck on the music though mainly because I can't think where I'd manage to find greek-influenced hip hop, so if you can think of anything, I'd appreciate it, otherwise, I'll, err, try to find something I think will work? :)

ETA: At the moment I'm kind of headed towards a nonverbal classical piece; like a Romantic era piano piece or something? Let me know if that's utterly the wrong direction, otherwise, I'll probably be proceeding in that direction.

Oh, I have an idea! Remember that song edit you for me for Gaeta's Lament? Maybe a Gaeta-remembering-Dee-vid to that song! (I liked the aired version better, not so drummy but it's your choice for which version you like. I trust you to make drums work. :-)) It would be a sad vid. But it would be kinda cool and I'm never gonna do it.

I want to give you awesome songs! Why does my brain desert me in such moments??? I know there must be dozens of songs I should be thinking of...

As for possible options, I have wanted either Stork and Owl by TV on the Radio or My Boy Builds Coffins by Florence and the Machine (I know you have this! I'm sorry if it's super cliched!) to be a TSCC vid for awhile. Sarah and John, obvs, but possibly also with Weaver and John Henry mirrored, or not, or whoever!

Or if this pings you more, I sort of think the already-very-short Happy (Reprise) by Jenny Lewis could be a haunting vidlet for either Sarah or Olivia. And it's not like I'd whine if you combined them. :DDDD

Um, for an actual prompt I would die of glee for a Sophie vidlet and I'll hunt around for an appropriate song. And, I don't know, was the first thing that crossed my mind and now I want it like woah (without even having an icon!). And I do have some source for that show too, if you need it.

I would really kind of love if you took a swing at a Doctor Who vid to Aesop Rock's "None Shall Pass". I feel that you can never have too many "wow, that's some hubris you've got there, Doctor" vids. Obviously, you're more invested/interested in Eleven, but there are a lot of parallels to be made to Ten's era (and others, but let's not get greedy).

If this is way too much, I'm happy to suggest a different vid.

Okay, I've listened to it and I'm happy to try it, but my main issue is that I'm not sure I can make the sort of vid you want me to make out of it because I don't actually almost any of the Ten-era footage and since I wasn't a big fan of it, even if I got it I think I'd have a hard time actually finding good bits of it to use? So like, actual visual parallels is probably right out.

I'm happy to give it a go at reading against my main reading of Eleventy, though I'll be honest, right now, I'm not sure exactly how I'd do it, but I guess that's the challenge?

But I just felt I should be upfront about the fact I'm not sure I'll be able to make the kind of vid you want. So please feel free to suggest something different, otherwise, I'll do my best with the current prompt. :)

And oooh, those are some interesting prompts. I'm not sure which one I'll feel like doing later this month because it's a ways off yet. I'd kind of like to try the Leverage one because I haven't vidded it before but also a bit intimidated by the thought because I haven't vidded it before, and the other ideas sound interesting too.

But that's a great spread and I'm sure I'll one that works for me.

I'm really glad you're enjoying the vidlets! And you're welcome to friend me or unfriend me or whatever whenever you like. :) Though, obvs, I don't usually post vids this frequently! I also don't always friend back straightaway, because I'm a bit paranoid about keeping my flist size down, but I very much hope that doesn't seem unwelcoming with regards to feeling comfortable commenting here, or what have you.

I am still open for prompts. My unofficial policy on this whole thing is that I'm going to keep accepting prompts as long as it's November and I'm also going to keep vidding as fast as I can as long as it's November and hopefully I'll get to them all. If I don't, I may choose to continue into December; we'll see. :)

WHAT. IT IS STILL NOVEMBER. Yes, this is how behind I am on... everything. I neeeeeeeed to waaaaaaaatch viiiiiiiiiiiiiids. Good news: only one more week of classes and then a couple of grading, and then I get a wee break to catch up on friends, fandom, and fun! I MISS YOU.

I thought my fannish brain was too atrophied to think of prompts, but of course when I went to dig deep into my archives I remembered a few great vidlet possibilities. Now I have TOO MANY PROMPTS. I'm sure you can find the songs to listen to, and if you want me to send the mp3s just say the word.

Here's one that I remember talking to people about and maybe trying to buy in Sweet Charity, but I don't think anybody ever took up the challenge: Nellie McKay, "Clonie" on Get Away From Me. LADY DOPPELCEST VID. could be mutlifandom but I would accept Cylons only.

Next is another potential BSG vid -- maybe Caprica (although I'm sure you don't want to watch it for this purpose) or even Star Wars and/or other movies -- the point is it's about FANBOYS. I had originally dreamed of doing this as a meta mashup of the BSG Video Maker submissions, but that seemed impracticable and anyway they're ALL LOST NOW (except a couple you can find reposted on YouTube). I wouldn't say this is entirely anti-fanboy, but it positions their esoteric affirmational labors (e.g. building scale models, replicating light saber effects) as rather alien and creepy for humorous effect. Yes, I know you are also a fanboy! Tom Waits, "What's He Building?" from Mule Variations.

I am comically obsessed with The Shaggs and particularly the song "My Pal FootFoot." I asked M what fandom this should be about, and she said "little kid perspective on Doctor Who where FootFoot is the Doctor." Ahahahahaha. So you can have that one. I'm also trying to think of a great vid idea for Sarah Jane Adventures (that is not the inappropriate girlslash vid that WE want to make), but I don't have a song.

Finally, wild card: going with the Mary Poppins meme we have going, an AU where Mary Poppins is actually a ROBOT. Crossovers invited! I have no definite song for this, but to steal from the above prompt I'm sure one of the tracks from Janelle Monae's Archandroid album would work.

I went with Clonie because the Mary Poppins thing might step on the toes of someone we both know if she ever finishes a certain project, and the Fanboys thing is, I think, an amazing idea but perhaps a bit of a difficult concept to convey in a vidlet that I'm expressly making very quickly.

I was super tempted by The Shaggs, but ultimately I decided that I've done quite a lot of Doctor Who lately, and also I think part of the charm of the concept is knowing who The Shaggs are (not that I couldn't have linked to Wiki mind), plus, dude, the beats in that song are weeeeird. Though the idea of vidding to outsider art music is intriguing in itself.

ANYWAY, all this left the doppelcest cylons vid which is probably the best kind of thing to make for you anyways. <#
