Is it weird that I found this entry really fascinating even though I've never played ME, and I've only heard snatches about the whole Fan Outrage from the endings? But this was a really interesting post and the way you've described it, it seems like there were a lot of interactive choices to counteract the "nothing I did ever mattered" criticism, and the final ending was... conclusive and complex and I can see how it annoyed people but I think it sounds pretty cool and I'm glad to see a defense of it.
