Oh sweet lords, OCTOBER?!

First off, Chief, stop plagiarising Mario Savio without acknowledging it.

There is a time when the operation of the machine becomes so odious, makes you so sick at heart that you can't take part; you can't even passively take part, and you've got to put your bodies upon the gears and upon the wheels, upon the levers, upon all the apparatus and you've got to make it stop. And you've got to indicate to the people who run it, to the people who own it, that unless you're free, the machines will be prevented from working at all...

(Yeah, so I have that quote memorised and am a geek and never expected that fact to *ever* be useful for *anything*, but there ya go.)

Aside from that, the acting, oh, the acting.

The scene with Roslin, who didn't really know what Tory was planning, but sort of did, the tears in her eyes when Adama ends it. The *grace* she had, keeping my sympathy with her even though she's party to something deplorable.

This show is amazing for raising the dangers of democracy. Because freedom of speech and consent of the people, and the idea that (because I just saw the trailer for V for Vendetta!) governments should be afraid of their people, not the other way around, these are all things I feel passionately about.

But democracy has basically just screwed over the human race.

That's an awesome thing for a show to say, especially one that *still* argues that democracy needs to be upheld.

And, then I'm back to the acting.

I think I may have said it before, but the sheer brilliance of these last few episodes really made me realise what a slump the show was in before (episodes 13 - 16) - not that that run was *bad*, it's just that compared to this...

The music slayed me many times over. I love the first season music, but it's been hit and miss in the second season. Some episodes I don't even notice it at all, other times it's absolute brilliance.

I also want to know what's going on with Sharon - I assume she's still brigged up, but after Helo's explosive, "I love you and I'm not giving up that easy!" (also a great moment - I liked that he was mad with her, finally, and also that he doesn't give up) I'd think that there must be something going on there.

Intrigued by the atheist priest.

Intrigued to know whether what he said was true - about the war heroes convincing everyone to go their separate ways. Especially since the war heroes then turned up quite definitely *not* intent on going their separate ways.

Was that a double bluff by the cylon priest? Have the cylons YET AGAIN changed their minds?

Tricia Helfer continues to amaze.

At the end, when Caprica Six is meeting with Baltar, all that longing.

And Gina. Oh, *Gina*.

There was a cut scene in the previouslies, and I really wish we'd seen the whole thing - I want to know more about this character.

I want to know why she wouldn't go to New Caprica. I loved her quiet refusal, but what was it motivated by? A fear of it, like Kobol? An understanding that she was fundamentally not human?

The way that she knew she couldn't follow him, but was still desperate to keep the one person who had cared for her and who was willing to offer her a "human" (for lack of a better word) connection, and sex being the one thing she could think of that *would* keep him there.

Perhaps she thought it would heal her, but it ended up completely breaking her. After her history, is it a wonder?

Maybe she always planned suicide by nuke, but why stay naked if her recent experience had nothing to do with it? Almost like her twisted, dark elegy.

In case you couldn't tell, that sequence really haunts me, although I still wonder what her aversion to New Caprica was.

I also wonder if what she did was a sin. Suicide is a sin, but suicide bombing, it seems, isn't (Doral in Litmus). Perhaps ending your life is a sin, but being *careless* with it isn't (because they reincarnate?) Huh. Anyway, maybe this was the only "acceptable" suicide she could imagine. Then again, this is the Six who believes that God forgives all. Surely that includes suicide?

Argh! So many questions! And OCTOBER!!! ARGH!

Cariad,
