HELLO I'M ON DREAMWIDTH NOW.
Dec. 14th, 2012 05:05 pmOkay, so,
chaila finally bugged me enough to set up my dreamwidth properly rather than just name squatting. So I'm going to experiment with using it.
Firstly, I have no intention of leaving LJ. I'm going to be automatically cross-posting everything. I've imported my entire LJ to DW, including my flist and permissions, so all your livejournal usernames should have access to my dreamwidth account via OpenID so you should be able to access my flocked stuff on DW too if you're so inclined (though since I'll be crossposting, that probably won't matter unless you want to read the comments).
I've looked for everyone on my flist on dreamwidth under your current names (or obvious/known variations thereof), and if I've found you, even if you're just namesquatting too, I've added you and granted you access.
If you seem to be using your dreamwidth primarily/crossposting everything and you're already subscribed/granted access to my dreamwidth, I am now only reading your dreamwidth via my flist. But for the vast majority of you (i.e. those of you not using dreamwidth actively, or those of you who have not yet granted me reciprocal access), I am reading your LJ posts via my DW flist. Yeah, I'll get a few of your posts twice, but I'll sort that out as we go and as I get used to who's posting where. I'd rather not risk missing flocked content.
ETA: Hmm, seems like clicking "subscribe" on my LJ friends in my circle doesn't, in fact, make their entries show up on my reading list, so balls. That's okay, though, I'll just read both my flists. Or...do dw users have any tips on this?
SO.
WITH ALL THAT SAID -
Have I missed any of you? Do any of you have dreamwidth names that are very different from your livejournal names? (Not you,
futuransky, I know all about you!)
Also, what communities should I subscribe to? So far, I pretty much just have
vidding and
vidukon_cardiff...
I miss all my pretty icons though...
(Also, lol, because I have a free account, I have a tag limit of 1000 tags. WELL YOU'VE ALL SEEN MY LJ TAG LIST. I got the following, wonderful, error message:
"Error updating journal: Tags error: Adding this tag would exceed your maximum of 1000 tags. Please remove at least 794 of the following new tags: "
So you know, 1) I was using tags when tumblr was a gleam in its coders' eyes and 2) OH GOD I JUST GUTTED MY TAG SYSTEM IT'S USELESS NOW, thank god it's all still there on LJ....)

Date: 2012-12-14 08:34 pm (UTC)Yay so good to see you here :D
Subscribing doesn't make LJ entries show up here, no. The way I've been
stalkingfollowing you is by making a feed. If they flock their stuff that won't do you any good tho.To find new people I tend to go for the interests/site search and find people posting about awesome stuff, and also just scouting other people's profiles/circle is a good way to go. Pretty recent and active friending meme here.
Some users I'd suggest are coffeeandink, genusshrike, and selenak, plus you should totes go play at
