Computer crashed. Entirely. Whole hard drive wiped. Lost everything. Including an irreplacable file - my ongoing actual *novella* piece of work that I'd started reworking HUGELY from the original first draft which I probably have somewhere but now hate.

I just lost freakin' everything.

And you know, I'm whining about it here because this constitutes a rather large crisis for me and I can't handle normal non-computer obsessed people telling me I shouldn't be so attached to crap that's kept on a machine.

Plus I lost a lot of irrplacable fun stuff, like my crack!vid collection.

Ok, what the other people said. I know of another case where someone's computer went belly up and they lost everything on their hard drive and just when they thought all hope was lost a friends husband (who is somewhat of a computer expert) helped her recover most, if not everything, on her hard drive. So don't give up just yet. But I definitely get your flailing. I really need to start backing up my computer even though I don't have anything as important as a novella on it.
