I'm gettin' married! To a boy!
Sep. 21st, 2007 07:24 pmCuz, well, I'm getting married in about seven weeks and I figure I should probably make some sort of official announcement or somesuch. Since it keeps being pointed out to me that I've forgotten to tell people. Or they thought I was joking.
So, yeah. I'm getting married. To a boy. In Vegas. In my jeans. In 7 weeks.
Kev says my dad'll have to hold his camcorder because my ma's probably gonna have to hold Jo Jo the plastic dinosaur. His parents aren't coming.
It's a bit freaky. But since I'm probably going to be moving to Korea to try out that whole teaching thing in January, I figure it's a good idea. We're practically married anyway at this point.
So...go me?
And wish me luck telling my work because they're gonna make such a bloody fuss.

Date: 2007-09-23 04:46 pm (UTC)OTOH, we've known we were going to marry each other for a really long time. It was just one of those things we'd say. I can't remember who said it first, you know, "Well, one day, when we're married..." I mean, I've been dating him since just after I turned 18; I'm 24 now. We kind of grew up together I think, weird as that sounds.

Date: 2007-09-25 04:46 pm (UTC)It was...never something I imagined for myself actually. I come from a long line of hippies and rebels and women who got married far too late in life to much younger men! I think getting married now, to a guy I've been dating since I was a teenager is probably the thing I've done that's most shocked my parents!
I grew up expecting I'd learn one day who I was with an utterly shattered heart and what it felt like to break someone else's. And learn about the breadth of people I could be attracted to, and under what circumstances, and the breadth of people who could be attracted to me. I expected to learn the difference between one love and another, and perhaps what it was like to love someone I always knew I'd leave. I expected to grow out of people It's odd to think that these are aspects of myself I may never fully experience when so many people have.
So I do - I appreciate your mind boggling; mine does too.
But...this is the hand I got dealt and I wouldn't trade it, and I absolutely appreciate your taking the time to drop by here and wish me well. Thank you. :) *hugs*

Date: 2007-09-28 03:27 pm (UTC)oh, and I meant to say: don't go to korea! *pout* I want you to stay in Cardiff. at least until em and I get to come visit.

Date: 2007-10-01 09:48 am (UTC)I pretty much am going to Korea though. But only for a year! I'll be in Cardiff between January and March/April 2008, then away for a year (if all goes to plan!), then back in Cardiff again for a while to get on my feet for I don't know how long before considering moving anywhere else.
Our friend Addy says we should move to Bournemouth because according to a survey 82% of people in Bournemouth are happy and that's the highest in the UK. Which isn't the worse reason I've heard of to move someplace. But that'd be waaaay in the future!
But if you ever are in Cardiff, even if I'm not there to offer couches to crash on, I'll ABSOLUTELY come visit/see if I can bug my parents into lending you guys their spare room! :)

Date: 2007-10-02 12:28 pm (UTC)I wouldnt worry too much about things you are missing out on. If you get it right first time then all you are missing is times where you would get it wrong. What most people learn is what mistakes not to make again. If you havent made that mistake to begin with then you done really have any thing to learn. Experience can be a bit over
rated I mean for example do you really have to of been near death in order to cherish life to its fullest. Your going to be enjoying the good stuff and skipping over the bad.
Teaching in Korea should be one big adventure its an amazing place. I hear its good money and and a great chance to save some up. I know a friend who teaches in Japan and he loves it.
congrats!

Date: 2007-09-23 09:08 am (UTC)It's kinda sooner than we planned on getting married so we figured, if we couldn't do it on our own time schedule we could at least do it daftly. :)

Yes...that sounds like me. *SHAME!*

Thank you and I will try to make sure I take pictures; though I do seem to have a weird mental block re: recording important moments photographically. Though partly that might be that Kev keeps using up all the battery in the camera taking pictures of stupid stuff and not telling me so that when those moments roll around, I'm stuck with fifty-seven pictures of "The Adventures of the Coke Bottle in the Kitchen," and not enough battery to take anymore. *headdesk*
And Korea?!?!?! Yeah, you forgot to mention that too. :p
Err, sorry! Um, yeah. Just for a year, and it's not set in stone yet - it depends on passing my TEFL qualification course thing and finding a job there, but it sounds like an interesting opportunity and as they'd be giving us free accommodation, perhaps also a chance to start getting in control of our finances.
Plus Korea has, like, the highest percentage of high speed internet users per capita in the world. It's not like I'm going someplace I can't get the net! I'll still be around! :)

Date: 2007-09-24 03:10 pm (UTC)Yeahreally! Just make sure you have a big ol connection so you can share your BSG thoughts with us! I'm being totally selfish but BSG just wouldn't be right without you!

Date: 2007-09-21 09:08 pm (UTC)Although I'm slightly disappointed to hear that you'll be wearing jeans and not, as I feel should be obligatory for all participants in Vegas weddings, and Elvis costume (or, at least, a Priscilla costume).
Teaching English as a second language in Korea, yes? South or North, capitalist running-dog or comrade? ::inappropriate levity::

Date: 2007-09-23 09:20 am (UTC)I, too, am disappointed that there will be no Elvis involved, but having looked at how much that costs (a suprising amount considering) we decided we really couldn't be bothered. Mainly because it looked like most of the wedding chapels with Elvis weddings that had an online presence actually took it somewhat seriously... Still, the prospect remains that when we get there we might find something cheap and amusing...
And yeah - TEFL in Korea. And we shall be in the Capitalist Running-Dog South rather than the Nucleartastic North because we want to be paid in money that's worth something. ::inappropriate humour at the expense of impoverished countries::

I love Elvae as the plural of Elvis! And yes, Elvae are a possibility! Though I'm not sure, Elvae also seem a little pricey for something so tacky... We'll see. We're kind of winging it because, well, we can! :)
