I echo what the previous comment said, beautiful indeed. I love the music too. 6 is one of my favourite characters, her vulnerability is part of her allure. I really enjoyed this, well done.

Thank you for letting me know you enjoyed it! It's always great to hear that someone got some fun out of something I made.

And I agree - her vulnerability contrasted with the fact that she is, in a lot of ways, responsible for a lot of violence and destruction, is fascinating. :)

Caprica-Six is a favorite character of mine, and I absolutely love this vid. Great job!

She's been a favourite of mine too, but a sort of background favourite: a character I love and hope gets more screentime but then she doesn't, and I kind of forget about her until she shows up again and I go, "Huh, why isn't she getting more screen time, she's wonderful." And then the latest time that happened, I actually started to resent myself for forgetting about her, and realised that was kind of her tragedy, not just metatextually. She's constantly overlooked. And thus a vid was born!

But waffling aside, thank you very much for taking the time to comment. I'm so glad you liked it; especially high praise from a Caprica Six fan. :)

Oh, this is so gorgeous and fabulous!!! Great song choice and splendid editing. Such a journey Caprica's had so far.

(And I am possibly actually shipping Caprica/Tigh now. Or at least the best possible version of their relationship, which has little prayer of being actualized on screen. Um...)

Re: Caprica/Tigh - it's like a car wreck, right? You desperately want something redemptive and healing for them both, but it's a car wreck: you know it's going to end awfully but you still can't look away...

I guess that's what this show is good at...

Haunting. I love how the ghosting effect of the double vocal is echoed in the imagery. Caprica always slightly out of phase with the brave new world she made. Such a contrast with the flashback sequences. So sad always reaching for something that no longer exists for her neither Head Gaius nor current Baltar. Neither Saul Tigh nor the phantom of the Opera House. The way you tie in how death follows her around on the repeats of the “cold ground” lyric. Perfect ending, lovely work.

Thank you for taking the time to leave such lovely and detailed feedback! Haunting was exactly what I was going for. I was certainly trying to speed up the flashback sequences and use harder images and cuts, though I love how you phrased the difference between that and the "verses". I knew it was a haunting song that demanded quiet fades and a sense of incomprehension - being out of phase as you put it - but I hadn't considered how literally those "ghosts" tied to the double vocal. It's always amazing when someone sees something in your work you never considered, so thank you for that.

Also, I'm absurdly happy you liked the "cold ground" death association. I had a lot of issues, especially in keeping a fairly tight Caprica POV in the end section, and my betas rightly rode me about it, but I fought hard to keep D'Anna on that lyric.

Anyway, I'm so glad you enjoyed it! :)

Oh, that was wonderful and sad. Here via a rec from [livejournal.com profile] nicole_anell--I'm not much of a vid-watcher, but the idea of a Caprica Six video was so intriguing, I decided to check it out. I'm glad I did.

my review! it's pretty hilarious how Pooja spent today making an archive of notes on our Marxism readings and I spent it making an archive of notes on BSG vids...

This vid takes very seriously the problem of how, visually, to tell the story of a love affair with someone who doesn't exist, and in the process conveys a sense of almost unbearable longing. The song is haunting (NB: there is no second bar) and consequently much vidded, I know (there's a stunning Jack/Ianto version by [livejournal.com profile] sol_se, and apparently a Kara/Lee rendition as well); you should watch this even if you think it's already defined for you, because Becka really sells it. She created a Byzantine, impressionistic structure, which I nonetheless find eloquent and fluid -- I don't think only because I became very intimate with it in the course of betaing. I can't even highlight favorite moments because so much of it is just breathtaking. Moreover, the vid feels IMPORTANT to me, an indictment of how much time BSG as a show (and often as a fandom) spends with Gauis and his wet dreams and how little considering their relationship from Caprica's POV. Here is her story: the incredible emotional and physical violence she endures in her fruitless quest for a partner who can match her bottomless capacity for love. It's sobering how different her fantasy lover is from Gaius and Gaius's (take note of how sparingly actual Gaius is used -- because it's not about him).

I decided to assign myself some remedial vid feedbacking, because I really, really love this vid but have never told you so. Travesty! First, bookending “Over rivers, farms, and state lines” with rock-bashing D’Anna (Three? Whatever) = win! I love that lyric interpretation so, so much, with the whole idea of crossing borders. And Caprica may love her dysfunctional men, but I really loved how you used D’Anna and Boomer and Laura here. The D’Anna and Boomer bits on “lay down on the cold ground” are completely awesome and the opera house section is gorgeous and creepy and your editing there was perfect. Basically, this whole thing is just a really excellent character study for a character I have a hard time getting a handle on a lot of the time and I like it a lot. :)
