beccatoria: (oh crap!)

I shall be AWAY for the next 4 DAYS. I know, I know, as an internet-powered cylon from the future, this is a dicey choice at best, but I think I should be okay.

I'll probably get online for like ten minutes or something to check my email tomorrow, nominally in case I have Job Info from a Temp Agency, but obviously I have OTHER PRIORITIES.

I'd be really, really grateful if any of you could leave comments to this post after BSG tonight relaying any plot points that you think I'd find awesome/awful/interesting? I don't need extremely detailed blow-by-blows, just a quick summary of things that I'll care about would be awesome?

In some ways this is probably for the best: I'm horribly nervous about this episode so getting people to pre-watch it for me is possibly the best plan anyway.

I'm pretty sure you all know me well enough to know what I care about, but in case, I am specifically interested in the following:

- Cylon Intra-Familial Drama
- Laura Roslin's reclaimation (or lack thereof) of her own awesome.
- Starbuck and that whole thing about how she came back from the dead and whether I'm psychic.
- FLIPPER.

Thank you!

I am so sorry about Flipper Liam. I was watching him, I swear! I don't really know why she lost him? Was she hungry? It wasn't clear. But he flatlined and is gone.

Sam came back on line, though. I don't know. I don't know if Ishay had a hand in all this. Who knows, she wasn't in the episode.

This ep was very Cylony! But sorry about the baby, really.

*hugs*

I join your confusion about the miscarriage. Was it brought on by stress? But she had had pains earlier in the episode. Can Cylons really not reproduce? And is it just a coincidence that Liam died shortly before we saw some higher brain function from Sam?

Sadly, stress can cause the loss of a child, especially at only four months. I think she went through enough in that episode to be considered stressed out. :(

It's true. Though Hera made it despite the alarming amount of trauma that Athena went through. It's hard to know if this was miscarriage due to stress or if they are trying to make a point about Cylon/Cylon procreation and/or the power of love. Or not enough love. Or something. It was puzzling.

Well they keep going on about love as the deciding factor and the Cylons - especially Caprica - believe that, but they also made a point of establishing her stress levels (Why wasn't Tigh getting food for her anyway!)

Hera was older in the womb (the first four months are when a festus is likely to die), but still had potential to miscarry with the stress. I can't remember how old she was gestationally when Athena went into labour. The constitution of the mother has a lot to do with things as well, though often, and again very sadly, sometimes miscarriages have no apparent reason.

A friend of mine just lost a baby at four months in, and there was no where near this level of stress in her life. Meanwhile another just lost her third child in as many years. With the tragedy in the past, she was more than making sure she was healthy and calm, but sometimes, inexplicably, things don't work out.

Were I still pregnant, I could not have watched any of this episode until my baby was born and I knew she was safe and sound and healthy. Miscarriage is a horrible fear and the catch-22 is that fearing it = more stress... .:(
