I WATCHED YOU FOR TWO SEASONS YOU PIECE OF **** SHOW, BECAUSE I FELT SOME PERVERSE LOYALTY TO YOU FOR BEING SET WHERE I LIVE AND NOW YOU GO AND KILL OFF TOSH FOR NO BLOODY GOOD REASON, AND I WANDER AROUND THE INTERNET AND DISCOVER THAT NO, SHE REALLY IS DEAD, BUT THAT THE RUMOUR IS BLOODY OWEN - WHOSE DEATH WAS THIS EPISODE'S ONE SAVING GRACE - MAY BE COMING BACK. THAT HAD BETTER BE SOME BIZARRE INTERNET RUMOUR BECAUSE IF A FREAKING NUCLEAR MELTDOWN CAN'T KILL THAT ****HEAD, NOTHING ****ING WILL.

NOT F***ING COOL.

Well. At least now I NEVER HAVE TO WATCH IT AGAIN.

So, are you FINALLY done with 'Torchwood'? And I thought they were getting rid of most of the cast for next season?

Yes...I think I may finally have to just give it up. I should have done it a long time ago and saved myself the pain. Though I suppose then I never would have seen "Random Shoes" which...well I still really, really love that one hour of Torchwood. :/

I have no idea actually whether or not they're getting rid of the cast, because I don't really keep up to date with the news. Basically afterwards I wandered round the net and the actress who plays Tosh is gone, but the actor who plays Owen hasn't really commented which has led to speculation that he might be back (though I really hope not). It's not from any reliable source though and I hardly did a thorough search so I may very well be wrong and perhaps Owen is gone for certain.

I do know, though, that Tosh's death didn't...well it sucked whatever genuine emotional drama I might have gotten from the peace of Owen's final moments and seemed...well it seemed like there wasn't a bloody point to it. I dunno. Probably just favourite-character-syndrome. But she got passed over again and again and again and finally gets the less stellar death when loads of people in that show have survived bullet wounds. I guess I just felt strongly when she died that she didn't get last-minute-saved because the writers wanted to kill her not because it was impossible in Torchwood-world. Let alone the fact that she was dying while Jack was having a heart-to-heart with John and I couldn't concentrate on any of those scenes or care because I was like, "GO TO TOSH IDIOT".

Partly I think it's that I liked her and she was, by this point, nearly the only thing I liked so I'm taking this hard. Partly I genuinely think there is an issue if you treat bullet wounds as so unfatal in your series that having a character die of one screams "oooh, forced dramah!" rather than, "ugh, tragic realism".

Either way, I miss her. And I feel that her character was...cheated. And I know you know what that feels like when it's a favourite character. *sniffle* *emo!tear*

Sadly, I do. That's one reason the latest BSG made me so happy. They like Lee! They really like Lee! ::sniff::

I agree that after they killed Owen with a bullet wound then mystically brought him back to un-life, having Tosh killed, permanently, the same way cheapens her death. I'm still pissed at Joss Whedon for killing off Wash in 'Serenity', but the death was at least, as you put it, tragic realism. Considering Tosh has been the show's whipping girl for two years, it makes sense that they'd give her a crappy death.

While I was pissed off with Rusty for killing off Tosh, s2 Owen was okay in my opinion. Yes, he was a arsehole and an emotionally damaged, even broken one. But he was pretty interesting, read [livejournal.com profile] selenak for saying better than I could about season 2 of Torchwood.

Well I hate Owen with a passion, but yes, there were moments in S2 where I thought...okay, they have the chance to do something interesting with him. And that's part of why I hated the ending - as I said in response to [livejournal.com profile] asta77 - the whole situation undercut Owen's rather...noble death, in the end. His just deciding it was going to be okay, after being talked down from screaming, was...really touching, but I just don't care. *sigh*

I may check out that link - thanks.

i understand that you're upset, but, ummm, spoiler cut? i mean, it's only been a week since the finale and some people might not have seen it yet...

i was mostly relieved ianto didn't die.

Sorry if I accidentally spoiled you. I wasn't aware that there were any Torchwood fans who had me flisted :(

I'm not really active at all in that fandom and most of the people who drop by here regularly either don't care or would have seen it since it's now been over a week since it showed.

Anyway, the intention was to vent a little after the fact, not wreck it for anyone. The CAPSLOCK OF RAGE kinda belies the possibility of any redeeming intelligent thought here... :p

I like Ianto too, but...Tosh was my favourite, so yes. Sad girl is sad. :(

nah, i watched it last week, but i know that [livejournal.com profile] projectjulie hasn't seen it yet, for example [although she usually doesn't care that much about spoilers...].

i'm not active in tw fandom, i just consume lots of jack/ianto fic. if ianto had kicked the bucket, there might have been lots of capslockiness from me as well! i wasn't spoiled for the finale but had heard ominous hints about ianto's fate, and it seemed the cruelest thing to do, so the relief over him being alive sort of outweighed everything else. but i do think that tosh's death wasn't really necessary. taking owen away after the whole rising-from-the-dead storyline would have been enough of a punch...

Oh dear. I thought you might react like that. If I liked Torchwood then I'd probably feel the same way. ::hugs::

...mostly I feel embarassed for ever having liked even parts of it. And like an idiot for actually believing that Tosh would eventually get a storyline.

Even I think parts of Torchwood are good but, unfortunately, probably not enough, even when put together with the slightly-better-than-mediocre bits, to make a coherent story or characters. Sadface.

The hierarchy is still firmly in place on British telly. Non-white people are allowed to be main characters now but they're still killed off first after having less character development and measurably fewer lines (and usually close-ups too). Only white people and EV0L non-white people are allowed storylines. The only hint of a backstory for Tosh was when she was EV0L like Susie. /cynicism

::pets::

Series 2 was still better than series 1 though. ::shrugs::

This is a sadly true point. :(

Also, I wonder if I was the only one who was pissed we never got an answer as to whether Jack ever allowed her to go and, you know, see her mother again, or if she was forever constrained to postcarding? That was, like, the biggest thing I was thinking of when her goodbye message was all, "Thanks, Jack, you saved me!"

It seemed of everyone in Torchwood Tosh got a massively rough deal, and after revealing that they sort of...ignored it and figured we would too. Ah well, maybe most of us did. Sadface.

SHIT LIST

1. "you destroyed the city!!!!" a few itsy bitsy little explosions does not a destroyed city make.

2. Lets keeps these flesh eating monsters locked in cages so they can escape and eat people every once in a while. Every since owen "died" and since spike turned up torchwood no longer seems to be afriad to show that its the love letter to Buffy that RTD intended it to be before he go side tracked with Doctor Who. Weevils seem to be the shows answer to the cannon fodder vampires that turn up when ever needed.

3. Captain Jack gets sent back in time and has to live out the 20th century again and again and again. Its like the third or fourth time now this has happened. Plus i think having to endure countless thousands of deaths and rebirths that come with being burried alive would lead to a little itsy bitsy bit of MADNESS! He would be totally cuckoo. Plus i dont bye the whole im waiting around for the doctor but i cant find him from last weeks episode and a few others, hello! the doctor must have visted the UK in the 20th century about at leat 200 plus times. That crossing roses time line was such an easy get out.

4. ok a few top ranking police officers died but does this really mean torchwood has to step in and take control of the city. As for Gwen being brilliant and telling the poor cops their jobs "go knock on a few doors" that had me laughing.

5. "Hi im your brother im going to kill you" This had no build up what so ever, sure we knew that jack had a brother and that he had lost him but we had nothing invested in this character what so ever. Any other show would of had a season if not at least a few episodes of build up. "Hi im your brother, i missed you, i love you", in 6 or so episodes time............ "no i lied i wanna kill you". Plus how does a guy tied up and tortured all his life by primeval beast learn to put a master plan in effect that involves time travel, bombs in hands and exploding nuclear power plants.

6. Jacks seems to make peace with his brother then goes and sticks him in a freezer! because thats really gonna sorta the problem out in the long run.

7. WHY THE HELL COULDNT YOU HAVE SHOWN OWEN MELTING IN RATIOACTIVE GOO. What a waste! Poor tosh has a big bloody hole in her but the nasty irredeemable ownen gets away with a "i dont wanna die" winge and then fade to nothing. I wanna to see green slime, a melting on fire skeleton and lots screaming.

I could go on and on and on but my NUMBER 1 gripe about torchwood

The main character is

IMMORTAL
INVINCIBLE
and we know he practically lives till the end of time

wow thats suspense for you!

sorry had to vent :P
